Re: AS / FH and TNG Gedcoms
So far everything looks good in both FS/AS. However, I notice 2 undesired results when importing the GEDCOM to TNG Website. I am hoping others who use TNG can offer some input. Image/Media is only attached to source and not to fact -- this cause undesired display of media items being only like to s...

Re: Addresses
I think John wants the residence fields for everyone to automatically be filled in with whatever is typed into the place of birth or place of death on the first tab.
I've made a note of this and will consider it as a possible future option.

Re: Possible Auto-Text RIch Text Problem
I have now had a chance to test the fix, and as expected the problem has been resolved. Thanks for your hard work, time to make another contribution. That's good to know. I'll wait a few days before releasing this version officially to see if there are any more problems reported. Thanks for the gen...

Re: Addresses
I've not got any Scottish ancestors that I'm aware of (and if I do they will be from before birth/death certificates appeared) so don't have any experience of these certificates, but the examples I've been sent in the past on which I based the autotext templates in AS, didn't have a page 2 I think. ...

Re: External File Link Anomaly
The screenshot shows you have a media record with ID 881, presumably in your main project 'Huteson & Burmany Family'. Media item 881 is referring to a file in your deleted project 'Huteson & Burman Test Project'. So if that image is somewhere in your main project then click the Re-Map button and cho...

Re: AS v7.7.1 Display Problem
The standard scaling options in Windows 10 and 11 are 100%, 125%, 150%, 175% and these are found under the display settings. My laptop recommends 150%, my PC 100%. I normally prefer 100% but have been using 125% on my laptop as it helps me to check AS displays correctly in two different scaling mode...

Is that Windows 10?
If you right click on the Ancestral Sources shortcut and then choose Properties and then Compatibility, nothing should be ticked and if you click on Change high DPI settings make sure nothing is ticked in there either.

Re: AS v7.7.1 Display Problem
What I find puzzling is that your screenshot of AS running doesn't look too different than my 100% scaling on 1920 x 1080. If I set my desktop to 175% then AS can't display as much information as that. This is how it looks on my screen at 175% scaling and font size 8. Notice how far over the toolbar...

Re: Possible Auto-Text RIch Text Problem
Hi Chris Thanks for your template. I think I've fixed the problem now. I've created a new update v7.7.2 though I'm not going to advertise it to all users yet as I'm conscious this would be the 3rd update this week and I don't want to annoy people. Please try this and let me know if you have any more...

Re: Short Titles in AS 7.7
I've created a new update v7.7.2 though I'm not going to advertise it to all users yet as I'm conscious this would be the 3rd update this week and I don't want to annoy people. There is now a new option (on the first option page) for Templated Sources: 'Allow use of short source titles'. This is off...

Re: Error Message after installing v7.7.0
Hi David. Yes that's what I have already suggested when I directed the original poster to the third option on this page: https://fhug.org.uk/kb/kb-article/solving-windows-defender-and-edge-browser-blocking-ancestral-sources/ . The problem is that they don't appear to be able to get to the Ransomware...

Re: Error Message after installing v7.7.0
Ransomware doesn't come with Windows Security (that would be bad!), but Ransomware Protection does. If you go into Windows settings and search for Ransomware protection does it find it? You suggested earlier than when you select it you get a 'Page not available' error when you try to open the Ransom...

Re: Short Titles in AS 7.7
I made the decision to turn off short titles for templated sources following the confusion it caused in this thread: https://www.fhug.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=21379&p=132508#p132505 . I made that change at the start of January in the versions that have been tested. No one raised any objecti...

Re: New Video: All about sources in Family Historian
Thinking Out Of The Box The video discusses the recording of sources citations and facts by typing on the keyboard, as if that is the only possible method. There is an alternative, not often discussed. In this digital world data storage is without limit and cheap. I simply download or scan or photo...

Re: Reinstalling FH5 on Windows in S Mode
Microsoft have a version of Windows 10 and 11 that runs on Arm chips (currently Snapdragon chips only). These are relatively unusual to come across so I'd be surprised if Robert had one of these. If it was Windows on Arm then it would only be able to run FH in emulation mode and it would probably fe...

Re: Reinstalling FH5 on Windows in S Mode
Sorry yes you're quite right, you do need to make sure you have enough disk space of course. I doubt the power saving really amounts to very much in reality, particularly as the Windows store now has 'normal' win32 apps and they don't run any more efficiently just because they are in the store. Do y...

Re: Possible Auto-Text RIch Text Problem
I did make some changes to the RTF->FH format and FH format->RTF converters in AS around the end of January in the testing phase. I didn't get any reports of issues like this since then so assumed all was OK. I wish you would get involved in the AS testing Chris so I can avoid having to upset users ...

Re: Reinstalling FH5 on Windows in S Mode
hi tate, thankyou for your help in this matter, is there no other way i can do it without taking the S mode off rob I think the main benefit of S mode was to restrict installation of software to only be from the Windows store. This was to improve security and also S mode was a cheaper licence. If y...

I have had the same problem but when I access Ransomeware to follow the instructions the message Page not available is displayed. I have tried and had the same result as rfj1001. rfj1001 seems to have solved his problem which was caused by Norton 360. Do you have any anti-virus/security software in...

Re: Error Message after installing v7.7.0
Something on your system is stopping AS from accessing the folder in your documents. It may be that when you install AS you need to right-click on the installer and choose Run As Administrator. Alternatively it may be a security setting. See this Knowledge Base page and the section "Ancestral Source...
