Re: Relationship to Root on Chart

Thanks Mike, that worked just fine.

I had realised that I needed to use =TextIf() but wasn't getting the syntax right to make it work.

Relationship to Root on Chart

I currently have a text scheme which shows the relationship to root on my chart, but can't figure out a way to omit it for the root person, so that it doesn't display the relationship as "My root".

Can someone come to my rescue?

Re: Creating CD

Thanks Mike. I kind of thought that would be the answer. Thanks as well for the tip you suggested using the plug-in. I don't think it's really what I'm after though as, if I'm understanding it correctly, it would only really work if the viewer knew what to search for. What I really want is something...

Creating CD

I have been experimenting with the Create a CD function and have added to the table of contents a few lists of names which have something in common. E.g. I have a list of professional sportsmen which appear in various places in my family tree. Another is a list of clergymen. I have listed these usin...

Diagram Text Scheme

Back in July 2013, Jane kindly provided me with this information for my diagram text scheme, so that if a birth occurred in Scotland, England, or Wales, only the short name would be displayed, otherwise the long one. The idea was that for a town in this country, only the town name would be sufficien...

That's just what I was trying, but the Place Name doesn't show up.

There is definitely a place name in the record, as I have a line showing

Code: Select all

Marr: %INDI.FAMS[1+]>MARR.DATE:ABBREV% %INDI.FAMS[1+]>MARR.PLAC:SHORT%
and that works ok.

I have been following this with interest, and wonder if you could explain how to add the Short Place Name after the Marriage Date?

I have tried and failed miserably!

Marking forums read

There is the option at the bottom of each forum to 'Mark Posts as Read'. Just means you need to remember to do it in each individual forum.

Problem solved thanks. Must have been just a cache issue. Thanks for another great program Nick. Look forward to the 'full' version.

Installation Problem

I have downloaded the 64 bit version of Ancestral Sources and tried to install it in Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, but have got the error message, 'An error occurred while trying to copy a file: The source file is corrupted.' I have downloaded the file three times in case it had become corrupted du...

Scottish census

The 1851 census has been released to the ScotlandsPeople user group members for testing. Provided there are no problems, it will hopefully be available on http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk in the next few weeks. To keep up to date with Scottish genealogy you should have a look at http://www.talkings...

Unable to Save in FH

Did you have the demo version installed before you bought the full program?

Do you perhaps have your .ged files associated with the demo program?

1891/1901 Scottish census + language

They don't show 'language spoken' as such, but there is a column to indicate if the person spoke 'Gaelic', or 'Gaelic and English'.

Small bug? - Double marriage

Many thanks - as I've said before, its great being able to use a product with such a good level of support.

This is a great program, which has just got better, and a small issue like this in no way detracts from that.

Have a happy Christmas Jane, and also to Simon and his team if they're looking in.

Small bug? - Double marriage

Morning Jane, If you display the properties for either spouse and open up the 'sources' part of the properties box, the drop down selector for choosing which event to add a source to, is where the events show twice. Hope this makes sense as I'm replying from my work, and don't have the program in fr...

Small bug? - Double marriage

I've just found what appears to be a small bug. I don't know if this has been introduced in 2.2 or if it was always there. If you add two marriage events for the same couple (to show two different possible dates from different sources), then both events show TWICE in the 'Sources for:' drop-down box...

Source Summary Report

Is there a limit to the length of text which can be displayed in the 'Actual text' field on this report? I have a source (a will) which has a fair bit of text. Since the original is hand-written and not very legible I want to include all the text in this field. It all shows up fine on the 'Record De...
