Re: Narrative Reports Anomaly
Hi Mike Yes I did read your earlier post but didn't get a chance to respond to it. I had also been having a play around prior to reading your updated post and realised also the issue is the fact there aren't any facts against Henry Gray, found the same with a couple of other ancestors and their othe...

Narrative Reports Anomaly
I've come across a bit of an anomaly with the Ancestors by Generation and Individual Narrative Reports where there are no marriage details for an individual who married more than once. When I run the Individual Narrative Report it states she married twice and who she married, but the Local Note I ha...

Re: Automatically add Census date to Census Facts?
Thanks Mike, I'll have a play. I'm working on a copy of the original gedcom file emailed to me anyway, I've still got the original email. Depending on how the occupation attribute shows in FH, it may not be required because of a preference for single Facts for Census rather than the multiple that us...

Re: Automatically add Census date to Census Facts?
Thanks Mike. Why not, I've a copy of a partial tree with 146 individuals, not particularly large but there are a lot of census entries on it so worth a test.
Thanks
Nicola

Re: Automatically add Census date to Census Facts?
Thanks Mike. As I have just posted in my other thread, I'm awaiting a copy of the full gedcom file and will see whether there is any consistency in the sentence structure in the PLAC field. I know some aren't as per one of the examples above, but it may be she has used the same format when she has i...

Re: Is it possible to merge Facts?
Thanks David and Mike for the replies. Yes I agree Mike FTM seems to be a bit of a law unto itself and its interesting that different versions are treating the same custom data from 2006 in a different way. I've had a response from my relative regarding a full gedcom of her tree and, as she has visi...

Is it possible to merge Facts?
Is there anyway of merging two Facts by copying the details of one Fact into the Note section of another Fact please? Following on from my other post on missing dates on census, my relative has created a number of extra facts relating to birth/marriage/death which include the BMD reference in the PL...

Re: Automatically add Census date to Census Facts?
Hi Mike Yes, judging by some of her "detail" on the census facts, which are actually in the PLAC field, they would be better staying as census facts rather than residence facts. All the census, as far as I am aware at the moment, are for England & Wales. I don't think she has any overseas census inf...

Automatically add Census date to Census Facts?
I'm trying to help a relative in Australia migrate from FTM2012 to FH5. The tree was originally created in FTM2006 which treats Census facts similarly to FH, ie. Census fact with year for date and then details. Unfortunately, she has since upgraded to FTM2012 and the conversion process has changed t...

Re: Individual Narative Report - Picture Locations
Yes the option for children's pictures on the Descendant's Report is useful, I use it regularly. :) So it would be nice on the Summary Report too. I agree Mike with your suggestions for actually being able to more fine tune the location of pictures in the reports, that would be even better. :D Nicola

Individual Narative Report - Picture Locations
At present the only options for location of Pictures under Report Options - Pictures - Picture Location mean the pictures, whatever type selected, can only appear above the text, either in rows or individual columns, or to the right of the text. The issue with this is where you have a number of Root...

Media Keyword Filters
Is it possible to delete manually created keyword filters for media please? I suspect there is an easy way to do this but couldn't find anything obvious in Help nor via google. I know I could just ignore them but the list of filters is getting a bit long and it would be better if I could remove them...

Re: Work in progress - Import CSV
I find it easier when blanket searching a surname in a particular area to add the details to a spreadsheet in much the same way that Shelley has mentioned, particularly if the records being searched aren't online or, if they are, aren't indexed. Spreadsheets can definitely be a useful research tool....

Re: Is V5 to V6 upgrade worthwhile?
I didn't upgrade until February as I thought I'd let Calico Pie iron out any issues prior to that. However, the improved media gallery and also the improved search (or filter as its titled) in the Records Window swung it for me. The ability to search on parts of surnames as well as first names, rath...

Re: FTM to FH Media Import
Thanks Mike, the only difference with the instructions in the Knowledge Base was that by default FTM2014 defaults to UTF8 as the character set, not ANSI. I've just rerun the export, but got the same result: 0 @M12@ OBJE 1 FILE C:\Docs\Genealogy\Haydon (London)\Census\1861 Census\james and ann ebbs n...

FTM to FH Media Import
I'm helping a friend who is looking to migrate from FTM2012 to FH5 and has a number of media files linked to individuals in FTM. These are media manually added to FTM and not downloaded from ancestry. When I've tested this for her (as she is not very computer literate) exporting a gedcom from FTM201...

Re: Default Media Report
As you will be aware from the thread you linked to (as I have posted in it already), yes I am aware of Source Records and Source Citations, and within that thread I have listed why I disagree with what might be the majority view about the way they are used. When it comes down to it though, it up to ...

Re: Source Citation Methods 1 & 2
You've entered all that data so why don't you want to see it? Why do I particularly want to see the source data? The date I'm really interested in is the Facts/Events as they pertain to the life of the individual. All the source data shows is where this is from and its not something that is needed ...

Re: Source Citation Methods 1 & 2
Isn't it really swings and roundabouts when it comes to Sources with either Method? If I used Method 1, I end up with a lot of Source Records relating to Census, but if I use Method 2 I have one Source Record for each Census year and country, eg. 1851 UK Census, but a lot of citations connected to t...

Re: Source Citation Methods 1 & 2
I tried it last night linked to a Source Record and it didn't show up when I ran "View Media Linked to" and a Media Report. :? I'll try it again. Its only really a pain with multiple links for Census and I've decided to use Method 2 in Ancestral Sources for Census (I need to input all the Census eve...

Re: Source Citation Methods 1 & 2
Unless I'm missing a trick, if I link the media to the Source Record associated with the event, it doesn't show against the related individual when you select "View Media linked to" and therefore won't show up in a Media Report for that individual?

Re: Add GRO Source plugin error
I've just realised what the problem actually is. I had read the details about the plugin but obviously not understood it clearly. I'd assumed it created separate Source Records for each event, when in fact it just creates a citation linked to the single record. And it does say that. Th...

No the Source ID wasn't in use. Tried manually changing to the next number and still getting the same error. I've also tried on a different individual too and get the same error.

Add GRO Source plugin error
Any ideas why I am getting the attached error when trying to add a source using the plugin please? Its worked once but now I get the error every time. I have tried removing the plugin and readding but to no avail.
Thanks
