Re: Addresses
Thank you Nick, i look forward to your next update. Instead of 'home duties' on the 1921 Census and 1939 Register it would be better to have 'Housewife or even 'Unpaid Housewife' rather than Unpaid Domestic Duties, as when the report gets printed it seems better to say she was an Unpaid Housewife r...

I agree with Mike Tate
I use Dropbox, OneDrive and Box on my PC and laptop without issue. One is wired, one is wireless.
My FH data is on OneDrive

Re: Addresses
Nick Whilst you are considering things to add could I suggest a couple? With the 1939 Register add Unpaid Domestic Duties to the Occupation automatic drop down? With the 1921 England Census add Home Duties to the Occupation automatic drop down? This would speed up data entry if it is feasible. I su...

Re: Maritime Census (1881)
I'll take that as a no then. ;) So, I looked into the censuses for Ships & Vessels in port, and they are basically all the same from 1861 to 1891 as far as I can find examples of. So, I have created census templates for these years, and attached the definition file to this post. Feel free to use it...

Re: Addresses
Hi Nick, I'm writing about the AS pages 1 & 2 not the certificates. John, are you referring to these tabs? Screenshot 2023-03-16 151955.jpg If so, the AS help file (from v4 I think?) states this: Individual's/Father's/Mother's Residence (Residence Tab) If a residence place and (optionally) address ...

Enhance right click context menu in 'How Related' diagrams
When using the How Related Diagram, it would be very useful to have the Diagram > Family Connection Mapper...' menu item available as a right click context menu item, as it is entirely relevant to that diagram, and not entirely obvious that it is used for line colours etc. in this Diagram

Re: Error Message after installing v7.7.0
I have Windows 10 and just the Windows security. Never had the problem before. OK, but in your previous post, you said I have had the same problem but when I access Ransomeware to follow the instructions the message Page not available is displayed. What is this? Ransomeware is something installed t...

Re: Error Message after installing v7.7.0
Mickawin mentions accessing 'Ransomware' to follow instructions, gives a blank page. I presume that he means he has something like Malwarebytes or similar installed that's picked up the AS installer as a threat

Re: change box outline colour in How Related graphic display
Thanks, Neil - I didn't even notice that option! All makes sense now :) Go to Diagram > Family Connection Mapper, and you can configure the colour there. You can add extra relationships and have different coloured routes. It doesn't exactly jump out at you does it! I knew I'd found it before, some ...

Re: Family Historian Activation Login [solved]
You all are very gloomy! :o Not really, Nick is a programmer, I work in IT Desktop support and I've seen the carnage a virus or lack of security updates can cause. Just trying to alert you to the realities of running a PC using an operating system 3 years out of support, with no security patches si...

It’s worth letting Nick know which version you are using. IE one of the Beta’s or the 7.7 release

The error message states that there is a sync pending, so that’s why you can’t delete that folder.

Free online upgrade to W10 is still available if you do a web search for how. Not necessarily a device that will update if it doesn't meet the W10 criteria (I see the same scenario with W10 devices where Update says it's not compatible for a W11 update). I agree though, running an obsolete OS onlin...

Re: Generic Type
Mike, If I enter a birth generic type from a GRO birth record and then from the actual certificate, then there will be 2 births instead of 1 for 1 person. Surely when the statistics are done there will be more births than expected? Surely, that's 2 sources/facts about the birth and not 2 actual bir...

Your Font doesn’t seem to be the default AS setting. I don’t know if it makes much difference.
This recent thread addressed the same issue. Does it help?

Re: Backup size increasing
Neil, this thread is NOT discussing Snapshots . It is discussing Medium & Full Backups and independent Windows backups. I know that. I was correcting Tony who mentioned that backups aided with time stamped roll backs (snapshots), so I see my response as relevant. IMO Tony was talking about Project ...

Re: Backup size increasing
Remember though that the FH backups are really only for users who don’t otherwise backup their personal folders. If you do, you don’t need to run them at all, and your FH data are backed up along with all your other stuff. Don’t they also provide time-stamped rollback opportunities? Those are Snaps...

mark TIP If the image is available to view on Family search, but restrictions prevent direct downloading, try Alt-Prtscn to take a screenshot. Census entries, duplicate records question
Perhaps one for Nick I have discovered that in 1911, my great Uncle is recorded in the 1911 Census of Ireland (same date as E&W), with his entire family, including siblings up to the age of 30+ (which I thought odd, but not impossible of course) I have since found one of the older sisters, married i...

Interesting aside, I just checked the Lat/Lon of the 3 entries we began with, and it is just over a mile from Enville Street in Stourbridge. I'm not sure if you think that is good or bad. Bad! I was quite surprised it was this far from the co-ordinates. The problem I've found is in the formu...
