Re: Running FH on Mac via Virtual machine

Yes, I think we are agreeing, but x86 = 32-bit processing, while x64 = 64-bit processing. You were asking if "ARM Windows 11 Pro was not an x86 (64-bit) version". i.e. It was an x64 (64-bit) version and not an x86 (32-bit) version. I don't see how an x86 version can be 64-bit. I thought x86 was eit...

Re: Media Cache

Are you referring to the Project's ...fhdata\Cache\ThumbCache.dat file that we regularly advise deleting from time to time, or some other thumbnail file? I'm not sure what 'caching error' that CP were referring to as they are not specific. Yes I believe so, I've seen reference to this in several po...

Media Cache

I reported in the v7 Beta testing, an issue where adding an image to an individual left a blank white box, but fixed itself if you navigated away and back, and you then got the 'mug shot' you'd created with 'Link to Face' I noticed it happening again in 7.0.9 and reported it. The response was This i...

I have reported this to Calico.

To work around for now, you can simply select the Save As> option from the report menu at the top.
Beat me to it, and yes, you can save it from the Report menu but it says 'Save Report as...>' like the button

Re: Add Notes to a Male person about an unentered wife

I'm pretty much with Helen (ColeValleyGirl) here Mike. To be honest, I have never really considered where I will/would draw the line at who I record. As Helen says, it's sometimes helpful to have them recorded, and if I found information on them, I record it. It was only seeing this thread that open...

Pardon? In what way?
The way you described it adding a person with their partner + offspring in a note vs the way I have always done it as ColeValleyGirl described.
I add anyone to my tree that I find connected (by family or otherwise) in support of the FAN principle

For me, the reason is that I don't want an ever-expanding tree for remote relatives, especially by marriage.
If the wife and children get added, then what do you do about their spouses and children?
Ah, OK. I'd never thought of using a tree program in that way!

I’m interested to know why you don’t want to add the wife and his children in the ‘conventional’ way?

Re: Transferring FH7 on EHDD to FH7 on HDD

unlikely that custom data is on an external drive as it’s stored in the hidden folder ProgramData which has to be on the boot drive.
[Edit] Actually not ‘strictly’ correct but would take a fair effort to move it, and certainly not to an external drive.

I read it as Tony’s old PC hard disk being in the caddy. If that’s the correct interpretation, all the data will be retrievable, but configuration settings from the Registry cannot be simply copied across. Depends I suppose on interpretation of EHDD which I would take as E xternal H ard D isk D riv...

This is a well know 'feature' that has been discussed many times before. See Wish List Ref 517 Option to Omit Blank Boxes in Diagrams when only one parent that you can Vote for. I don't understand how the mother can be Married (i.e. have a Marriage Event) if the child is illegitimate and has no fat...

Hi There is a free image utility that I use for all sorts of quick and easy tasks for our Camera club, such as slideshows of topic images and reduced size images for our website. Re: Name on property box and Family box the same

As far as I can see, the property box shows the person ID by default and cannot be changed. It is certainly useful for identifying the correct person. IE, if you had several people of the same name, it is handy to know which one is focused by their unique ID. As for the Focus window, what don't you ...

Re: Named List in a Query

fH7 Hi, I'm going slowly bonkers here...I've been adapting the "Alive in 1901" query to use for the 1921 census. I've added a column to show their age in 1921, and I've added a way to choose a named list as input. I don't know if you wanted to adjust dates in the query, as the 1921 Census was taken...

I think from memory at first time of running, you login to your Calico Pie account (that you used to register/purchase). https://www.family-historian.co.uk/install7 If it doesn't work, contact CP themselves - usually very quick to respond. https://www.family-historian.co.uk/support/support-overview ...

Including the Registry settings. The only issue I found when testing was that you might have to re-enter the registration details. But the caveat is same user, same FH version, and same PC. The full plugin should be used for all other scenarios.
Great stuff.
