Re: To Do Lists / Work Management: What External Apps may people use?
I hear what you are saying Jackson, but unless you print them out, if you were say, in a graveyard, you have no access to your 'to-do' list (if you are being green and not wasting paper) I use OneNote that syncs across my PC, laptop and mobile, so I have it in my pocket if I need it (as FH doesn't y...

Media photos in my Photos ( mine are stored in the original Piscasa) If I have linked my photos - should they only appear once or multiple times? Thank you. Lesley Just to clarify a misconception. Pictures are not stored in Picasa. Picasa is a tool to organize and view your pictures, so as Mike has...

NoPerhaps beta testers on this forum, without breaking confidences, can indicate if they are aware of features that they tested but which did not make it to V7.0 (i.e. just a yes or no answer)?

Have you created a project, or are you just opening a GEDCOM?
At the top of FH which of these does it state?

Re: Moving from old Win 10 PC to new Win 11
Hi Jackie
I upgraded my PC to Win11 with FH already installed, however, I replaced my laptop and did the Win11 migration before installing FH and restoring settings etc using Mike Tate's plugin.
I've had no issues

Re: Where Born
The fill down idea would work. However, I'm not talking about all the places in my tree just the ones in the family censuses on AS; usually most of thechildren are born in the same place.... John, The point is, AS accesses your FH database of places, so whatever you see in FH > Tools > Work with da...

Like in FH itself, if you start typing the place, it will try and populate it for you. If it's wrong, just keep typing the place.
Personally, I think if there was a drop arrow, that could be one long list of places potentially, so I think the current method is as quick.

Re: Adding text to a diagram
After inserting the box you need to right-click in it and choose Format (or just double-click in the box). You can then type text in the Text tab, as well as choose the font and size of text, alignment and margins. I have never added a title to a diagram, but have to say that method is counter intu...

Select the image you want, and then use the up arrow with the star - 'Higher Preference'
You will see them swap positions. If there are more than 2 images, use the Up several times until it is shown as you need it

You only posted yesterday so you've not left very long for an answer and I can't actually see a question? David, I can't see any difference. I loaded it alongside my existing Tab and the values for 1921 Age are identical
[Edit]Strike that, was looking at the same tab! It's been a long week! I see you increased from 44 to 55

Re: Census UK Tab - my take
Hi Neil - Thanks a better take on my version. One problem though, the 1921 Age field is not wide enough to support ages such as 53 yrs 10 mns . This maybe a font issue but I'm not sure. I have fixed this already if you are happy for me to post the updated UK CENSUS TAB in this thread or you can mak...

Re: Backup - One Drive
Neil, if you try and backup a Project inside its own Project folder then naturally that is not possible. It becomes recursive! The error message says: "The backup file cannot be created within the project folder that is to be backed up." But that is not Joan's problem. Yes, I was too quick to dismi...

Interesting. I tried to do a Medium backup - I also use OneDrive for my FH data, and was told it was not possible to do so to the location (I don't have a particularly long path), but if I went to the root level of OneDrive it worked! [Edit] Ignore this, I dismissed the error too quickly, I was tryi...

Re: Backup - One Drive
As Mike has said on many occasions before in response to FH issues, does a PC/laptop Restart (NOT a Shutdown and boot up) resolve this? Maybe OneDrive has a file lock happening somewhere.
Worth a try.

Re: Need help with a query
Hi Nikki,
This was raised for the UK 1921 census in this topic: https://www.fhug.org.uk/forum/viewtopic ... 32&t=20324 - not a trivial task by all accounts.
Mike (Tatewise) may be able to tell you if his Census plugin might help with this task.

Re: Diagram marriage duplicated of all persons
There must be some duplication somewhere?
IE Frank on the left has no marriage fact but does on the right, and conversely, Annie on the left has the marriage fact, but on the right does not.
Frank on the left also has a line to the top of the box (suggesting parents) but on the right does not.

Census UK Tab - my take
Not sure if it belongs here, or where to put it, but it relates to the Census UK Tab. I have edited it to my own liking, reducing the size of the Census date and Age fields, giving more room to the Place and Address fields Census UK Tab NG.jpg ...and the settings, same for Census year/Place and Age/...

Fully endorse Mike's (tatewise) latest response. But this is changed since windows 8 and 10, with the new feature named Fast Startup, which is...

Depends on your user security settings. Running the installer as Administrator might not have given the errors you experienced.David Potter wrote: ↑04 Mar 2022 09:58Calico Pie confirmed the same solution Nick has reported, apparently FH7 should install this when itself installs and for some reason it did not.

Re: How change File path to open saved charts in Project
Just for information, generally speaking, up to Windows 10 version 1607, the maximum path length is 260 characters.
Later versions this can be increased by changing a registry entry. IE it’s not a setting you can find in Control Panel or Options
This applied to Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 and early 10
