Re: Problems with merging.

Having just tried out the procedure on the Full Version, I think Lorna's expertise may well have hit on the answer: To select the file you want to pull in to your 'main' Project you have to keep working through your directory structure by selecting 'Open' until the GEDCOM file is revealed, then sele...

Re: Problems with merging.

The trial version should be fully functional, except for the fact that it can't run plugins. It's a long time since I looked at the trial version but, from what I seem to remember, there used to be a limit to the size of the project you are allowed to create/edit. If there still is, then that may be...

Re: Highlighting facts

Mike, Yes, I can see your point. My guess would be that the Flags feature was devised as a method for providing positive visual indicators of the facts that have been recorded against individual records rather than those that haven't; so no Flag would then equate to 'WIP/WorkToDo'. Must admit, they'...

Re: Highlighting facts

MB@RE, Ah, we've all been trying to give you answers to how you can do what you want, but missed your key question. It's because visual 'Flags' in Family Historian are for flagging Individual Records and can't be attached to individual facts. A full explanation of Record Flags can be found in "Getti...

If you want a more complex method which can provide more detailed information on your research needs/aims then take a look at the 'To Do' approach explained in the Knowledge Base: http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id ... o_do_lists

Re: Find My Past Import

Having previously downloaded a GEDCOM from FindMyPast, it did just that, i.e. did not download any linked sources (images), so I believe you may have to download any you want individually.

Ah, the heady days of the 1990s when genealogy was largely about spending hours in the dingy corners of City Libraries and ancient Archives Offices getting eye strain as you worked through poor quality and unindexed microfilm and microfiche records. You certainly needed an attractive software interf...

Just tried printing the individual sections to PDF, including the one you mentioned, and experienced no problems at all, so can't really understand why you are experiencing a problem. Re: Samson Phillips westminster archives

Yes, it's from FamilySearch, but via Ancestry.co.uk (Search Marriages for Samson Philips rather than Phillips). It wasn't unusual for people to move from one major Port City to another, so Bristol to London is not too far a stretch to consider. The next step would probably to follow a process of eli...

Re: Stripping back

If you really want to take that drastic route, or just initially test the impact of a start again approach, then I would say: 1. Do full backups of your existing Project including everything associated, and copy your existing Project to New Project - leave the 'old' one in tact for reference/securit...

Re: FH PDF Not Displaying All JPEG Images

Or, possibly, try using a Word Processing app that can output directly to PDF, e.g. Microsoft Office, OpenOffice, LibreOffice, especially if the Text/RTF report output from Family Historian already produces the initial results you desire. However, if Adobe Professional can't do it, that may signal s...

Re: Ancestry GEDCOM no pictures at all

Karen, That's simply because downloading a Gedcom from Ancestry doesn't actually download any images. The next question should probably be: What images do you need? Are these images from the Ancestry Database(s) supporting the facts in your Tree or images you already have on your computer that you u...

Re: Re Registration of Birth

The re-registration of the Birth is the statutory declaration (or the only documentary evidence likely to available of it), so you would need to apply for a copy of that Birth Certificate to see the record of what was declared at that later Registration. As you say, you can't obtain a copy of the or...

Jennie, I believe Helen meant 'conflicting copies' of your Family Historian data files, not the Family Historian program version. The easiest way to check this is to examine the date and time for each saved Gedcom File in your problem project, i.e. on both of your PC's and the version held in your D...
