Re: Wish- Direct Backup to Google Drive, etc.

I'm not sure I understand what kind of cloud service you are looking for. Although all of the sites mentioned so far do allow you to maintain working data files on your pc/tablet/phone etc. in sync, and enable you to 'share' them across multiple devices or with other people, they do also allow the s...

Re: Wish- Direct Backup to Google Drive, etc.

Just use Family Historian's built-in Backup procedure with the appropriate options to save your Backups to Google Drive etc., etc. and the Backup files will be retained until you delete them.

Re: Broodbanks of Rendham Non conformists

Peasenhall Parish Registers may be the start point you need. According to Phillimore's Atlas and Index of Parish Registers the Registers are available for 1588 onwards, but haven't been indexed on FamilySearch. In fact, the number of Suffolk Parishes appearing on FamilySearch is only a relatively sm...

Marriages from 1754 (Hardwicke's Marriage Act) would have to have taken place in a Parish Church, unless they were Quakers or Jews.

Irene,

No, in the Window where you see the error message, if you scroll to the top right-hand side using the arrows you should see a couple of icons including another gear wheel as below.

Re: Internet Search

It looks like you've set your Home Page to that false address in the internal Browser. At the top RH Side of the actual Browser Home Page (NOT the one in the Tool Bar) you'll see a Gear Wheel Click on that and then Settings then Home Page.

Re: Problems saving changes on FH - advice, please

It looks as if either the properties of either some/all of the Files on that Drive have been set to 'Read-only' or the Drive/Folder itself has become set to store all files as 'Read-only'. - You probably need to check if all of your Document files have been affected in the same way, i.e. can you ope...

Your My Documents Disk Drive location "J:\My Documents (New)\" is somewhat unusual. Have you moved your My Documents Folder to a different Disk Drive recently; and/or have you by any chance copied your files to this new location using a CD/DVD Drive?

Re: Windows 10

It seems that the very final post testing tweaks/updates to Windows 10 have 'broken' a number of applications that have worked flawlessly throughout the user testing period, right up to final release date on 29 July. Most of the reported problems seem to be linked to dependencies which have probably...

I can only answer directly for FH6 and that works with no problems (and has done on the last three Insider Preview Versions). Ancestral Sources also works with no problems. Can't see any reason why you would experience problems running FH5. The upgrade process will report whether any of your hardwar...

I can't directly answer your questions but there is some 'light' and informative reading on the subject here on a very recent 'Lost Cousins' Newsletter which might help: http://lostcousins.com/newsletters2/midjul15news.htm In following the DNA matching route you are, of course, wholly dependent on o...

Keith, Sorry about missing the 'Select Records' Window step. For editing individuals: When you get to the Records List pop-up, simply 'right click' on the record you want to edit and select "Go To" which will pop-up the Individual Record window without leaving Places. Unfortunately you do have to ca...

Re: Using a laptop or notebook for Family Historian

FH Program size isn't really an issue when it comes to choosing a portable Windows computer as the file size is pretty modest, probably around 100 Megabytes, including the dependancies, preference files etc. scattered about in various locations, and in comparison to the other software you might also...

I think the key to this may be: "What process do you go through when you receive an incoming e-mail on your PC with an image attachment?"

Presumably you are saving the image attachments to your PC, but where are you saving them to?

Ancestral Sources is a 'free to use/donations welcomed' piece of software that can directly edit your Family Historian Project GEDCOM or any other GEDCOM file. It was created and is maintained by a Family Historian User and you can find more information at http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=anc...
