Installing FH on Windows 7
I have hit a snag when trying to install FH on a Windows 7 computer. My original version of FH was V2.1.8, on a CD. I susequently received a V3.0.0 CD, but this will only upgrade an existing V2 version. Similarly, I have the V4 upgrade, but not a 'standalone' V4. So I have to install from the V2 CD....

Localise config settings within projects
I wholeheartedly agree with this request. The ability to have 'local' settings for various things was (sort of) what I was banging on about on 07/01/10, in Home --> Forums --> Usage, in my 'How Can I Save a Colour Scheme?' enquiry.

Merge christening and baptism?
You can use Word (I do, because I find Notepad a bit clunky for doing multiple edits), but if you do, then - 1. Pleeaase make a backup before you start!!! 2. After you've finished your edits, don't do Save, do SaveAs. This will bring up the normal SaveAs dialogue box, in which - 3. Change the 'Save...

Saving a colour scheme.
PeterR: Thank you for your suggestion. I think that is the approach I will use [smile]. Maureen: I dont think what you suggest will work, because (from what PeterR suggests) the appearance scheme (i.e. colours, font sizes, etc) is set at computer level, rather than at individual Gedcom file lev...

Saving a colour scheme.
I have, over the years, altered the colours, fonts, font sizes, etc., that I use on my charts, and in the Focus window. In a couple of weeks' time, I am giving a talk about Family Historian to my local Family History Society. This will involve projecting my monitor screen onto a wall. Preliminary...

V4 nbsp;- upside down text
Actually, you might not even have to swap to 16 bit colour. Just find something else to do for a few minutes! Yesterday evening I minimised my FH4, complete with upside-down text, and restored (from the taskbar) something else I was running. I can't remember what, but it was probably an Internet ...

V4 nbsp;- upside down text
I am getting the same problem as Cathy. Upside down text, but only in some fields. I'm running Windows XP Home Edition with SP3 on a laptop, with an Intel Calistoga Graphics controller. The screen resolution is 1680x1050. I find that if I go into Display Properties --> Settings and change the Colour...

V3-V4 Upgrade
When I ran the setup file to try to install the upgrade I got a message saying 'Setup was unable to create the directory 'C:Windowssystem32'C:''.
IS that what other people have had too, or have others had different problems?

Deleting Frames
Chapter 10 of the FH manual explains how to link a complete photo to a person, and also how to create a frame and link that to the person. However, suppose I change my mind and decide I don't want the frame, I just want to link the complete photo to the person. Is there any way of deleting the fra...

Leaving People off a Diagram
Wow! I've just read the blurb about the forthcoming Version 3, and item 8.3 seems to do just what I've been asking for - it allows you to hide any box or tree branch. I'm looking forward to release date.

Leaving People off a Diagram
Hi Jane. Thanks for your prompt response. Since I posted my original question I've discovered that this topic is already in the Wish List under 'Ability to turn off individuals/Wifes/siblings from diagrams'. That's exactly what I want to be able to do. I guess if it's in the wish list it'll come ...

Leaving People off a Diagram
I'm new to the user group, so if I'm asking this question in the wrong place, please forgive me. I've only just bought FH, as an upgrade to an old version of Family Tree Maker. I chose FH for two main reasons - the Try-before-you-buy option and the thriving user group. Anyway, to get to my questio...
