1911 Census
I too find the cost for 1911 too high for general use. However that didnt stop me spending rather toooo much over the beta site at xmas[grin]. I found the images very good, much better than most on ancestry. I have not found any missing or mistranscribed entries YET, and am fed up with poor image...

WW1 Conscription
'By spring 1915 it had become clear that voluntary recruitment was not going to provide the numbers of men required. The Government passed the National Registration Act on 15 July 1915 as a step towards stimulating recruitment and to discover how many men between the ages of 15 and 65 were engaged i...

NA web site states this about conscription in WW2, wonder if this info will become available 'Under the provisions of ...

Missing GRO Birth Entry?
Hi David, I have a very similar problem which I have been unable to resolve. I have checked the local office with no luck. In my case I suspect the person was not registered at birth, as this has always been the family story. Have you checked military records as he is of an age to have fought in W...

I have a birth cert from 1918, and I want to find out about the father. His occupation is listed as Civil Engineer. Does anyone know if there is a central register of Civil Engineers like there is of doctors, where I may be able to find out more about him? He has a very common name and what is on...

Thank you Jane, but the reason I had to get it from 1901 online census is that its one of the missing pages on Ancestry. This is becoming very frustrating, I think I shall have to be content just putting the text into Ged com with no image. Still its hardly the end of the world[lol]

This program looks great and I am looking forward to getting going with it. I am probably being a bit daft but I am unsure which file to open for GC to use, is it the last backup that FH made? I have read the post about saving in FH & GC but Im still unsure which file is my starting block. Thanks[...

Gosh!! I have a feeling this is potentially quite a big problem with Ancestry. Makes me wonder if Ancestry is worth an annual subscription, has anyone had similar problems with other sites or is it just Ancestry? 1901censusonline looks very good but I think it could end up being very expensive.[eek]
