Keep cursor in Property Box

At a standard screen size if I were to 'window my FH screen with the source' I would find that the source would need to be scrolled down, eg a newspaper item that I am typing into a field, or a census image would be rather small to read and so back to the problem. The majority of my input has been d...

Problem linking settings with new laptop

Looking through I think nearly everything else has transferred ok. Have just done a test - When I do View> Custom Diagram> Including Flags, and the flags show, then I check the Diagram Options, Boxes tab, all settings are there, but when I check the Diagram Options Boxes tab, there are no settings t...

Problem linking settings with new laptop

Thank you for your comments, yes I have done 1, 2 and 3 exactly as you have described since I followed the directions from the link that you have given. I believe that it is a setting that needs tweaking since the files are most certainly being accessed by Family Historian, as advised that if I use ...

Problem linking settings with new laptop

Hi all, I'm hoping this is an easy one. All of my settings, boxes, flags etc. I have copied over to my new computer running Windows 7. I have copied them into the correct place, OS(C:) ProgramData but can't make them show permanently into my diagrams. The programme does recognise where they are sinc...

Thanks and a question

Thanks, that sounds like what I'm after. I thought I'd checked the options, but must have missed it amongst the lot of other new things to take in.

Regards
Mary

Thanks and a question

Hi from a new user of FH4 and a big thank you to Nick for your new Ancestral Sources which I'm happily using and finding as intuitive as your Gedcom Census. I've been used to the layout of the text produced by Gedcom census and now looking at what is produced by the auto-text in AS I wonder if it is...

';Actual Text'; box problem

Just to be clear - in the Source Records pane I clicked the + next to a Record and it dropped down to reveal Title Type Actual Text - this entry already had some text in since I'd used Gedcom Census to enter information I'd collated just from the index of the census. It is this box that I had opened...

';Actual Text'; box problem

Yes I am running V3.1.2. despite you being 'not aware of any issues with text editing on V3' and yet another user is aware of it.

I am editing directly in the Source itself.

'Actual Text' box problem

Having made good use of the free time on Findmypast and obtained quite a number of images for the 1911 census, I am now trying to update the information I had previously worked out from the index. So each entry already has a Source which contains an 'Actual Text' entry. This is what I am opening, am...

Entering Census details in FH

Thank you Peter, That's not quite. I uploaded all of my census information, linked to people using the Gedcom Census. I put a whole load of info into the Source Text box. Now I have all of my censuses listed under Sources and the sub headings in them are Title or Actual Text. This second field holds...

Entering Census details in FH

Its not the actual birth events that I'm bothered about, its the additional people who I want to show are in the household but not in my tree. The text is there in the source, it shows as 'Actual Text' in the record, I just need to get it to show in the report as yours does. [nonsense] yep I guess I...

Entering Census details in FH

Hi Nick I previously used Family Tree GSP, a £5 package off a local shop's shelf and got over its limitations by typing up Word Documents transcribing a whole census household.  This sort of entry into a FH field would also seem to fit my bill as I could add comments underneath as I wished. So since...

Entering Census details in FH

Hello All, I'm very new to FH and chose this partly because of the Reports available.  I also particularly liked the Gedcom Census facility as the entries for each census created the sort of timeline I was looking for in the Individual Summary Report. The solution to my question may well have been s...
