Version 3 on the way?
I know how you feel! The thing that worries me is that there still seems to be no firm date. I would think that there will be a couple of weeks between the physical production of CD's and them being shipped from the suppliers. I would also think that as soon as Simon knows the CD's have been produce...

Version 3 on the way?
I had an e-mail from Trevor at TWR to say that they have not got any stock in yet but it is close and that is why they have charged some of the cards even though they are not yet ready to ship, but hopefully it does mean that it's very close.
I'll let you know,
Martyn

Version 3 on the way?
TWR charged my card for the update last Thursday and said that they would only do that when it was being shipped [smile] so I'll be dashing home over the next few evenings to see if it's arrived. Sad really how much I'm looking forward to this new release of software especially as I spend all my wor...

I don't think you can do this with the current version but the good news is that it is one of the great new features in version 3. I am looking forward to this as, having step children, I will then be able to show our whole family in one chart.

Has version 3 been delayed?
Hi Jane, Simon has now said on Rootsweb that Version 3 will be the back end of Feb or March. If this is just a production issue could he make a 'time bombed' version available for download that will run until mid-march so that those of us who have ordered it can start to use the new features and oth...

Announcing Family Historian 3
Simon confirmed on rootsweb mailing list that there has been a delay until February but he did not given a target for when in Feb, once bitten twice shy I suppose. Although I'm itching to get at V3 I'm sure it's best to have a slightly delay than have problems with the initial release. As someone th...

Has version 3 been delayed?
I see TWR are now just saying due February no mention of January any more. Anyone know if it has gone to mass production yet or is likely to slip further? It's a shame, like most people on this forum I'm dieing to get hold of the great new features, but it's better than it coming out buggy. How abou...

Hi Tony, If you want to give the presentations to people you could include the PowerPoint viewer, a free program from Microsoft allowing people who don't have PowerPoint to see the presentation: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=428d5727-43ab-4f24-90b7-a94784af71a4&displaylang...

Yes I agree that at least seems strange. I made a post earlier where I said I wondered if it was honest of the BBC, that was perhaps the wrong word but it does seem very strange when one package is selected by the actual people doing the research for the program and then another program is badged wi...

Are the BBC being honest ?
Yes your right it's their trade mark to do what they like with, honesty is the wrong word but it just seems odd to me that the team making the program use one tool that presumable they chose believing to be the best in the market and then they badge a different one. Presumably the BBC got a fair siz...

Are the BBC being honest ?
I saw the 'Who Do You Think You Are Family Tree Maker Deluxe' in my local PC World the other day and at first thought it may be some early version of the new Family Historian as that was the software used by the researchers on the series. I wonder if it's almost dishonest of the BBC when one set of ...

I don't know why but I had it in my mind that we would be ordering updates directly from Calico but when I looked on the linked shops for the Christmas offer there were the upgrades, I've ordered mine from TWR, the first time I have ordered from them.

Having just had a quick look at the new features I can't wait to get my hands on it! I will have to be patient something I don't do that well, but this hobby is helping me improve!!! It sounds like you've been very busy Simon. I for one will be placing my order for an update as soon as I see how to ...

New series of ';Who do you think you are';
Apparently the new series is planned for January so it may be worth trying to get certificates ordered and visit popular facilities before the next rush! The planned subjects are: STEPHEN FRY JANE HORROCKS JEREMY PAXMAN JULIAN CLARY GURINDER CHAHDA (director of 'Bend it Like Beckham') SHEILA HANCOCK...

OLE is an abbreviation of Object Linking and Embedding, pronounced as separate letters or as oh-leh. It is a compound document standard developed by Microsoft. It lets you create objects with one application and then link or embed them in a second application. Embedded objects retain their original ...

Thanks for pointing that out Jane, I've just had a quick look and found some GG grandparents that I new very little about apart from DOB and place. It showed my Great grandfather with a brother and 5 sisters I did not know about and an even greater bonus his parent were living with them! So that has...

Distributing a completed tree
Hello Jane, I agree that a paper copy of a complete all-in-one chart may not be very practical. Ive only been looking into my family tree for about eight months so my chart would not be nearly as extensive as yours but it would be quite big, but there are two reasons I would very much like to have ...

Hi Adrian, You could use a program like GEDMill to create a set of HTML pages which you could put on a CD to send to your family members as almost all PC and MAC's would have a web browser on them. There are several excellent reports in FH, for example the narrative report. These are output in stand...

Thank you again Jane, love the new picture by the way. I wondered if I had done anything wrong, I'll turn off the step children relationships if it causes duplication.

I've added this for my step children and then created an 'all relations' chart for my wife and I and it shows the children twice, once under myself and my wife and once under their father and a dotted representation of my wife. The children are solid in both cases. I must say I expected a dotted lin...

The ';Save Diagram As...'; option
I sent an e-mail to support and Simon sent me a reply the same day, which was very good, he deserves to be putting his feet up for a few days after getting the new release out. I don't believe there is anything confidential about it and as it may save other people having a similar misunderstanding I...

The ';Save Diagram As...'; option
The late addition would explain why it is not documented, assuming I did not just miss it. The example I included the dialog from was a diagram that printed on 12 pages. I can use the 'One Page' option and on successive runs enter 1-12 and I get each page saved. The 'Whole diagram' option saves the ...
