Thanks for that, Nick.
I was planning on doing some census entries tomorrow, so I will give it a whirl.
I love the previous version - I'm not sure I would have know where to start entering census info. without it.
Keep up the good work.

Is it possible that the children were all by the same wife but that she was known by different names? Are the names of the three mothers diminutives of the same name - Peggy, Margaret, Meg for example? This example is rather obvious but I think other diminutives / nick names are not so obvious Mary...

1851 England Census - Unknown Occupation
This website
http://rmhh.co.uk/occup/index.html
has a list of old occupations which may help.
Can you you work out what the first letter of the word is by comparison with other words on the Census page?
Is the person male or female?
Sorry that I can't help more.

Custom Event: Death of Spouse
What I wanted to do works as an attribute - I just didn't think of it until Jane told me.
There may be other uses for events in this situation but I have achieved the result that I wanted which is all that matters in the end.

I am trying to create a custom event'Death of Spouse' I would like this to appear on the Event list for an individual as 'Death of Spouse' and show deceased spouse's name. Another handwriting problem
I believe a Dame School was a type of small school run by a woman in her own home - presumably before compulsory state education was introduced. As far as I know anyone could run one so presumably this was her way of supplementing husband's income. It may be an indication of the level of education t...

Thank you, Carol, for that useful link.
I found the part about recorded ages most interesting. It goes a long way towards explaining mismatches of dates of birth.

Horizontal distances between Spouses
I have set up an ancestors and descendants diagram where the horizontal distances between spouses is set to zero so that they appear to be in the same box. However if I remove the text frames double lines appear accross the names, where they would be if there was a gap between the boxes. Any sugges...
