En bloc Import to Media Folder
I am using V4.0.2 having upgraded from V3. When I upgraded I allowed the installation to import all the multimedia files from V3 into the Media Folder in the Project Folder. Since then I have continued to update my records and some I have copied to the Media Folder and others I have left with a link...

Sorry Jane. . .forgot to ask.
Is it possible (using V4) to save as V3 so that they could use the 'read only'?

Will this be able to cope with V4 if I send it to my relatives?

Is there a viewer which relatives who do not have the the full FH package can use to view files I have created in my FH4?

Thought I had seen reference to it somewhere but I appreciate that the proper names and abbreviations could be a nightmare

Year of Birth etc
Useful suggestion thanks.
Only problem I have with some of the people I am researching is that they are not always locatable in the Births section even when (supposedly!) I have their name and age.

I wondered if there was a facility in FH (like an Introduction/Methodology) area where we could say what our own methodology is.
We of course know what it is but those who may be reading our production after we are no longer around to consult may not be so clear.

Please understand that this is NOT a complaint. You have done a splendid job already and the result produced now is probably the one we all would expect to see. It 'drove me daft' when I first realised the situation created by the Census year vs the age. I was confusing myself trying to calculate th...

I am not dissatisfied with the 'calc' qualifier but the test case I ran didn't put a qualifier in. I must have done something wrong - perhaps there was already a year in the sample I was using. I will try another test. On a broader matter I also wonder why the calculation results in a year which is ...

I understood you had created it yourself. I had thought of doing it myself so that I didn't have to do mental arithmetic each time! I suppose we are all in the same boat and that is why I wondered why there was no 'calculator' for this in FH. It will auto-calc age from dates but not vice versa. Of c...

I avoided 'calc' for one reason only in this context - if I had calculated it then the result would have been between 2 years not just one year. The prob with this is when you enter 'between' in FH Date Assistant it shows in the Record Page as 'aft' (i.e. 'after' not 'between'). So if you try to ent...

Marriage Date
In more recent Census Records the number of years married is included.
Does GC allow input of this data and will it auto-calculate the approx date of marriage as it does for age/birth?

I have only just started to try GC (I know - my fault!). I have 600+ individuals so I wanted to test it before using it. I have come across an issue which may indicate that I am doing something wrong and wold welcome advice. It has been my system to insert a Year (e.g. '1861') only if I know for sur...

I had the same problem and reported it to Simon who is trying to sort it out with McAfee but it IS a false positive. The 'workaround' I used was: 1. download the FH installation file 2. disable McAfee 3. Install FH3 4. enable McAfee and run scan on your C drive 'Program Files' folder. McAfee quarant...

Auto Entry based on Census Date
The date of every Census is known. These records are often useful in calculating ages of birth and marriage and in identifying the exact date of residence, occupation etc. I find it a little repetitive manually entering the same date for the different attribute/events gleaned from a Census record fo...
