Run Time Error

Never gave the background workings re updating that much thought but that explains why sometimes the update is quick and other times not. It is being triggered by the auto-save in FH.

So all I have to do to trigger the update immediately of Gedcom Census is click on save in FH.

Run Time Error

I am using Gedcom Census 6.0.6; FH 4.02; Win XP. I have experienced a run time error referring to modal and non-modal issues on several occasions. This has occurred when - while using Gedcom Census - I have entered data into FH (e.g. while using GedCom Census I have just come across a name which I h...

Sources Assessment

Thank you for your quick responses. I was forgetting about the distinction between source and citation. Will get the hang of this after several more years [confused] I also agree that life is too short. I used the Sources Pane to update the TYPE field which was pretty easy but don't want to be rooti...

Sources Assessment

Is there any way of adding an Assessment of a source to an entry in the Sources Pane so that the assessment will apply to all links to that source rather than having to add the assessment to each individual reference via the Property Pane?

Private Notes - a question and a cautionary tale

Cole Valley Girl said:
If you enclose the note in double square brackets it is private.

[[Like this]]
If you are happy to include part of the note but want to exclude another part will this work? - e.g.
'Accident at work. [[Fell into machinery]]'

Or do you need to divide the note into two?

Flag Check

Solved...all I did was include the Census attribute and link it to the source census record.

Having done that I also found the answer here http://fhug.rjt.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id ... ff_census
Simple when you know how[rolleyes]

Flag Check

I have used Gedcom Census to enter the results of a Census. Later I found I had missed a name and added it using FH. I also added the appropriate 1881 Census Flag in FH. I have also linked the Name and Death fields in FH to the source record of the 1881 Census but each time I now open Gedcom Census ...

Go Back when Working with External File Links

Is there any 'Go Back' feature when 'Working with External File Links'. You can select 'Go To' a Media File while 'Working with External File Links' but how do you then get back to the 'Working with External File Links' results to work with another file without having to start again from the 'Tools'...

When we upgraded to V4 we were allowed during the installation to import all the multimedia files from V3 into the new Media Folder in the Project Folder. Adrian, Thanks. I have tried what you suggested with an existing file but - while it moved the 'label' to the media file - it did not offer to copy the file. I checked and the file was not copied. How? That really was my question as the basic rule with using the tool you suggest is that it does not physically move the file but merely relabels the link to where it is. If I want to not only relabel the files but physically copy them into the Media folder how can I do it using this 'Work with......
