Help With Latin Translation
I agree with Gerry, I think the middle word is probably NATURAMQUE. I think it might mean something like 'In skill and through natural quality a nurturing mother.' (Nutrix can mean foster mother as well as wet nurse). Or perhaps 'A professional and natural carer'. It doesn't sound very military t...

Find Duplicate Individuals Version 1.5+
Like Bill, I am seeing a number of individuals being matched because of identical pairs of forenames. For example Mary Ann was a very common combination, often used if it were a single name (some Mary Anns are occasionally transcribed Marianne). There is no obvious solution to this, as it is...

Find Duplicate Individuals Version 1.5+
I am looking at making the Chronology Mismatch Deduction proportional to the discrepancy. So the more that Chronology Date Checks differ, then the greater the points deducted. Thus a discrepancy of up to 10 years would only deduct 1 point, whereas a discrepancy of 90 to 100 years would deduct 10 po...

Mike, V7 is looking good. The chronology checks are very sophisticated and you have obviously put a lot of work into it! The ability to customise the points scoring makes the plugin very versatile. Two comments: 1. I note from your reply to Bill that when comparing names of family members, points ar...

You can delete the custom IDs by creating a custom query listing all individuals, adding a column for Custom ID. (The expression is %INDI.REFN%). Then in the results set, highlight all cells in the Custom ID column and hit the delete key. The following info in the Help files may explain the problem ...

Thanks Chris, that's interesting. I suppose there's nothing to stop people signing both petitions!
I agree that scanning and putting records online is probably the better way forward.

The key is in the word 'direct'. Your How Related report says there is no direct relationship between the two individuals, but it does show an indirect relationship, via a marrige between Adelbert William NORTH and the great granddaughter of Elijah Washington SHERWOOD. Pool numbers are defined as fo...

Find Duplicate Individuals Version 1.5+
I wonder whether a timespan of 11 years is enough for the BEFORE and AFTER dates? In your example, after 1660 is interpreted as 1 Jan 1660 to 31 Dec 1670. If it is known that someone was alive in 1660 his/her death might be recorded as 'after 1660', but they could have lived until 1680. Where dates ...

Find Duplicate Individuals Version 1.5+
Mike, The chronology checks in V1.6 seem to be working fairly well but could probably still be extended. The plugin is still trying to match (admittedly with a low score) an individual whose children were baptised in the 1640s with an individual who was born in 1945. The date of baptism of the first...

Bill, My understanding is that the parents names are already being compared, and points deducted for a non-match as well as being added for a positive match. This is what the info says: 'The name matching is not only performed for the pair of Individuals, but also for their Father, Mother, Spouse, a...

David,
The link Jane gave in her post is a link to a .fhq file. This is a Family Historian Query file, not a plugin.
It looks as if she has written the query for you, so all you need to do is download and install it.

Hi Barabra, If you upgrade to FH version 5 you will find it has a tool called 'How Related' which does just what you want: it displays the relationship between two people graphically by marking the route between them on a diagram with a coloured line. It can also produce a brief report which sets ou...

As Lorna suggested, it includes Burial Event data, if there is no Death Event, and checks the chronological order of Event Dates. Thanks, 1.4 has got rid of the matches between the individual born in 1924 and the ones buried in 1771. However it is still suggesting a match (with a score of 11) betwe...

Hello Mike, I'm just having a look at the latest version. I note that in the info you say 'At present only the first instance of Birth, Baptism/Christening, Marriage, and Death events are assessed.' Two issues come to mind: First, does it take account of a burial date, where no death date is known? ...

To show only those spouses who have a Custom ID, try adding these rows: Exclude if INDI.FAMS[1]>HUSB[1]>REFN[1] Is null Exclude if INDI.FAMS[1]>WIFE[1]>REFN[1] Is null (Edit: Unfortunately this will exclude anyone whose first spouse has no custom ID, even if a second or third spouse does. You should be able to use the 'View Report' option in conjunction with the 'Display Graphically' option to help you follow the line of connection. The report sets out the connection between two people one step at a time.

David, when you say you 'just delete the date', do you mean you just delete it from the death-date box on the main tab of the property box? Unfortunately entering a date in the first place caused FH to create a death EVENT, which does not get deleted when you simply remove the date. If you look at...

John Owen said: This suggests to me that the Families tab should be showing by default when Historian is installed, as that preference is not obvious to a new user. I think I agree, John. I would suggest using an 'All Relatives' diagram where the diagram 'root' are the couple who are the parents of your grandchildren (i.e. your son/daughter and his/her spouse). There are various ways to select the couple as the diagram root: perhaps the best (because it may be useful in the future) i...
