Marriage Picture & Text Order, Individual Summary

You probably have the picture location options set to 'In Rows above Text, Left-Aligned'. Unfortunately there is no option to put the pictures below the text, but you can put them to the right of the text. (See Report Options, Pictures tab.) This arranges the pictures below one another in a column d...

Creating a book

That's odd. If you start from Publish > Narrative Reports > Individual Narrative and produce a report (rather than a book) you can use the Report Options to select Location of Sources 'At the end of the report' and it works.  You get the sources after all the individual narratives, reducing the numb...

Creating a book

If you create each report separately I think the sources will always be immediately after each report. But if you select several individuals and create one report including all of them, there is an option to put Source Citations at the end of the report after all the individual narratives. This is i...

Breadth of research

I do 'fan out in all directions', as you put it, so that I investigate all branches of my family, but in the main I restrict my research to blood relatives and their spouses. I find that this gives me more than enough to do without investigating the families of all the spouses. In other words to ans...

Duplicate Source Pictures Under Family Group Sheet

From what you say I assume the source no.6 is listed in full and no.7 appears as 'Ibid'.  This is used when the source is identical but the citation information differs in some detail (Entry date, Assessment level, Where within Source, Text from Source or Notes).  Are any of these listed against eit...

Duplicate Source Pictures Under Family Group Sheet

tatewise said: I cannot duplicate your symptoms. When a Family Group Sheet is created for a couple, there is only one Sources section with one Grave stone picture at the end of the report. It is cross-referenced from both Burial Events. If Bob is getting the source (and therefore the picture) liste...

Have you tried entering notes for any fact type other than birth?  If it works for other facts, did you perhaps leave the errant 's' in  'Births:' in the expression for the column for birth tasks?  This might have happened if you copied and pasted the expression before Mike corrected the typo in the...

Moving Custom Property Box tab

OK, thanks.  I wasn't sure if the custom tab was being put in the wrong place or the 'Move tab Up/Down' options were not appropriately greyed out.  It seems it's the latter.

Moving Custom Property Box tab

Having just created a Custom Tab for the Property Box I find it has been placed second, immediately after the Main tab. I would prefer it to be the last tab, and have tried using Customize Property Box > More Tab Tasks but the option to Move Tab Down is 'greyed out'. Oddly, the option to Move Tab Up...

First move one of your birth cert images to the new folder (if you haven't already). Then open Work with External File Links. The image(s) you have moved will have a cross beside it/them. Now select one of those images from the list and click on 'Re-map' on the right, then select 'Re-map within proj...

Richard, It is possible to enter multiple sets of parents in the gedcom file, so you could add a second set of parents for Poppy, where the second father is ‘Donor’ and the mother is the same person as the first mother. This was originally intended for use in cases of adoption, but could be used for...

Saving as a Custom Diagram type should save all the customizations you have made with the Diagram Options dialog except scaling. Saving the scaling would not be much help, because for every diagram root the tree will be a different size and shape: there will be different numbers of children in vario...

Ages

This has been raised before. I think the problem is that FH complies with the Gedcom standard, and the Gedcom specification does not allow for age in weeks. Converting weeks to days might give a false sense of accuracy, as for example '6 weeks' is likely to be approximate rather than exactly 42 days...

Bill, it looks as if our posts arrived simultaneously. In view of what you say, do have a look at the 'Source Citation information to include' section, as that might hold the key.

Hi Penny, You don't say which version of FH you are using but in V5 (and possibly earlier versions: I can't remember) you can choose to set a picture as the background for a diagram, and select the percentage of 'fading' of the picture. You can then print or save the diagram as a JPG. Use Diagram Op...

Fact based query problem

If the birth date is known (even approximately) why would an age be entered when FH can be left to calculate it? If an age is entered in FH as recorded in a document and the age is not compatible with the 'known' date of birth FH puts an exclamation mark after it in the Property box.  Looking at th...
