Re: narrative reports use italics for children's data
A statement at the outset that "items referred to the developers are not being disregarded, but may be addressed in a future release" would be honest and accurate. What else do you need? I think it just needs expanding slightly to say "The issue has been referred to the developers so this ticket wi...

Re: narrative reports use italics for children's data
If I was to change anything about the CP ticket system, it would be to do some expectation setting for users. While reading your post I was thinking on exactly those lines. Outside the world of IT support systems the word 'ticket' could mean all sorts of things. When a ticket is first raised the us...

It's on the 'Residence' tab of the main grid, at the top of the second column.

Re: narrative reports use italics for children's data
....Received a 2nd email saying: I have logged your request for consideration by the developers. Closed by Ros with status of Responded 12/02/2021 8:12 AM Does this mean the tiket is closed? and nothing more will happen? I think the key word in their reply is ' consideration '. They don't regard it...

Re: Accuracy of Scottish Census transcriptions
I don't recall a huge number of discrepancies but have encountered a few, more often in Ancestry than in FMP. For the Scottish census years where FMP has transcriptions (i.e. only up to 1901) I use FMP for the initial search because I have a subscription, and so I can view their transcriptions at no...

Re: Saving Diagram Options
Yes, I think the issues you have underlined need to be the basis of the report to CP. It is particularly inconsistent that some, but not all default settings affect the other types of chart you have listed. (I haven’t had time to test every scenario, but I can see some inconsistencies and I’ll take ...

Re: Saving Diagram Options
Ah! We assumed that you were using one of the four basic diagram types (Ancestors, Descendants, Both, All Relatives). It turns out that the "All Relatives and Indirect Relatives" and the "Everyone" diagram don't have the tick box but have the Save as Defaults option instead. But clicking that option...

Re: Scotland 1921 Census
HD stands for Home Duties. I can't remember where I found that, but I did eventually find it, and on one schedule I have seen it written in full. It goes in the Personal Occupation column, not the status column. I have not (yet) seen Scholar abbreviated to S. In the status column I have not seen any...

Disappearing note text
Nick, I have just found a problem when entering text in the Note field at the bottom of the AS screen. If text is entered in this field and then, afterwards, the Auto button for the Text from Source is clicked and Rich Text option is chosen, the text in the Note field disappears.

Re: Scotland 1921 Census
Thanks Colin. I edited my last post to mention that the columns for number of rooms and number of persons were also missing. You had probably already made your edit by then, sorry. As you say, it may be worth waiting until Nick produces his 'official' version. Here's another thought. In the Scottish...

Re: Scotland 1921 Census
I've just noticed that there are some columns missing from the template. Between Personal Occupation and Employment there should be a column for Status (W, E or OA for Worker, Employer, Own Account). Also there should be columns for the number of rooms and persons.

Re: Scotland 1921 Census
I have seen one case where the full words Yes or No had been entered and not corrected. However in most cases Y or N (or Yes or No) have been corrected afterwards. I think the best option is to leave the choice as M or F. The user can still enter something else in the main grid if they want to, othe...

Re: Scotland 1921 Census
EDIT: Nick's reply just beat me to it! The template is correct. The entries in that column should be M or F (or left blank). If you look at the very bottom of the column you will see that there is a box for "Total Insured" specified as the number of Males and number of Females. The enumerators somet...

Re: All relatives charts
It is also worth realising that within the Diagram Properties box you can adjust those "duplicate curves". I do not have FH to hand at the moment, but I think it is under an Advanced button on the lines tab. You will need to use help to understand how to adjust things like how deeply those lines di...

Re: Saving Diagram Options
There is certainly something odd going on, but the first thing to say is that I think you must be opening a saved Family Historian Chart, rather than a new diagram, and then adjusting the settings in that. If you open a new diagram you should find that on all the tabs in the Diagram Options dialog t...

Re: Customise main application toolbar
You and me both  personally I find diagrams give me such a very small view of my tree that is readable, that I don’t bother with it. Well, I'd better wade in here and redress the balance! As a diagram user I find those buttons very useful. I agree with allan1 that it was odd to remove those bu...

Re: Adoption problem
If you create an Adoption fact you can add a note to the fact recording any of the circumstances known, including naming the other set of parents (or both sets of parents) in the note. The fact, with its note, will then be included in the narrative report. Admittedly you will still need to choose wh...

Re: Media - Drag & Drop
the confusing part is, you are still able to click the location button, but as the file is going to be linked to, it is redundant, maybe the location button would be better greyed out or made inactive when the link only option is selected. I agree that's a bit odd, because the Location button just ...

Age calculation
When an age is recorded against a fact FH displays an exclamation mark against the age in the column in the Facts tab if it thinks the age is wrong (based on a recorded birth age). The 1921 census gives people's age in both years and months, but I have noticed that FH only seems to look at the numbe...

OK, I thought you were talking about using Drag-and-Drop when the file is already stored in the computer. There is no need to find where a Place name is used and change each entry because there is only one Place record linked to all those 'where used' entries. Just click the Edit... button instead and change the Place name there once. You will also be able to see any Notes or Lat/Long values held in th...
