Many thanks to all, that has nailed it.
But the question still remains "why my original does not work in FH6". I would never have thought that a new function was needed. Should not Calico Pie have brought this to our attention ??

Using expressions
I have successfully created expressions for Census 1911, Birth, Baptism and Death all of which work in both FH5 and FH6: =IsTrue(%INDI.CENS[year=1911].SOUR>_TYPE% = "Census") =ContainsText(%INDI.BIRT.SOUR>TITL%,"Birth",STD) =ContainsText(%INDI.BAPM.SOUR>TITL%,"Baptism",STD) =ContainsText(%INDI.DEAT....

Re: Transferring settings
Thanks Mike. You have interpreted my question correctly. It was asked out of curiosity as I intend to continue with FH6 as the main program.

Re: Transferring settings
1) to 5) is all Ok as expected. (Another way to make the GEDCOM FH V5 compatible is to use the Export Gedcom File Plugin in FH5 mode. Then the output GEDCOM would work with FH V5 on both PC, and the original FH V6 GEDCOM is unaffected.) If I understand this correctly I can backup up all gedcoms mod...

Re: Transferring settings
Mike, one further small complication: I have created a few new flags and diagram flag settings in FH 6 since I started using it - is there any way to save these and then add them into the restored version 5 settings?

Re: Transferring settings
Thanks very much for the clarification. I must say I am surprised that Calico Pie have not come up with an integrated solution for this. Since I have already used FH 6 (entered new data and modified old) I am prepared to give the manual transfer a go. I think am up to the challenge so I would be gra...

Problems with a Custom Query
I am trying to prepare a list of all individuals/couples who have a source for their marriage AND for whom a citation is specified in that source which contains the words "Marriage Certificate". My reason for wanting to do this is to: (i) set up a named list of those individuals for whom I have a Ma...

Re: Flag assignment
Problem solved - thanks. I used the AS Census Date Check as you suggested and it worked just fine but there was one issue it could not resolve and I attach a screen shot to illustrate. AS does not allow me to remove this line. What should I do and how do I find the offending citation? Thanks Flag pr...

Flag assignment
I have a 34 flags set up (17 census flags and 17 other flags) in FH which I use on five projects. I have a couple of problems which I describe below. 1. In AS only 16 of the census flags are displayed in Flag Assignment/Census; one flag, 1920 US Census, is displayed with the flags for the other Assi...

Bulk update of Citation Entry Date
I am using V5, and I have used the plugin "Add Assessment to Citations for a Source" which works very well. Can I use this as a template so that I can set the "Entry Date" for all instances of a particular citation. I am not very familiar with programming but if the changes are small I can probably ...
