order of children displayed in diagrams
Aha, I've found the solution- when I was taking the re-order option from tools I kept the 'Prompt for confirmation before each update' checkbox ticked- unticking it does the trick and now the diagrams are putting the children in the right order. Thanks for your help.

order of children displayed in diagrams
I've re-ordered the records using that option which seemed promising, but the diagram still isn't in the right order! Very frustrating.
I think I will take your advice and do things the other way around. Thanks for your help.

order of children displayed in diagrams
Hi there, I'm having a problem which I'm sure is easily fixed, but searching through the help files hasn't helped! Certain branches of my tree have many children and though I have ordered them by birth year they only come up in this order on the diagram sometimes (it seems to be quite random and the...
Divorce
Hi there everyone, can anyone advise me regarding historical divorces? I am relatively convinced that an extended member of my family was previously married (as 'confirmed' by 2 census record entries) and I have found his marriage certificate to my direct relative. However, after pain-staking search...

Another census transcription please?
Hope I'm not being too cheeky in asking you to have a look at another census entry I can't understand- this time it isn't faint, I just can't figure it out. http://www.fhug.org.uk/images/uploads/Dobson_1891_Census_edited.jpg Obviously I can read boot maker, but what are the next two? The next looks ...

transported
Thank you for all your replies, I've started searching these sites now and I'm really pleased to have something to go on. I've read today also somewhere else (can't quite remember now which link it was, sorry) that most if not all the people transported for their part in the Swing Riots of 1830 were...

WW2 Evacuation
Is there anywhere I can find out more about where a relative was evacuated to as a child during WW2? I imagine that there might be a register somewhere which is as yet unavailable due to it being in the relatively recent past, but I thought I check you with guys in the know :) Could someone confirm/...

Faint and illegible- help please
Could someone have a go at translating this please? http://www.fhug.org.uk/images/uploads/1851_Census_Hunt_edited.jpg The head of the family is William Hunt and his wife is Eliza (not Clara as ancestry tells me). The oldest son should be Jesse and I have no idea at all about the youngest son. Also h...

Thanks for all the advice and tips. I have found lots more of my more recent relatives now! I just didn't understand that the main search page on ancestry.co.uk is of a partial index, hence the confusion. I wish they'd put something on there though along the lines of 'didn't find what you want? try ...

transported
This seems a very novice question to ask, but I have found an article referring to one of my ancestors being 'transported' and does that mean being sent to prison? If I'm right, then is there any way that I could find out what prison? Or could he have been sent to a workhouse? Can I also ask, if som...

Sorry if I'm hijacking this post, but I am also having problems locating records on ancestry. After spending hours searching for relatives where some of my knowledge is a little hazy I tested the search engine out... Without question I know my own name, DOB and where I was born, but there is just no...
