Merging files?

I came to FH back in February with Version 3. I used to use Family Tree Maker and thought I had transferred my family files OK. However I have just discovered several missing pieces of data. I am not certain how this has happened. I now use FH V.4. I still have FTM on my computer and would like to t...

Using software on two computers

Wish I had bought V3 on a disc instead of download. Would have made life a lot more easy.

Using software on two computers

I have a desktop computer and a laptop. I downloaded version 3 in February onto my laptop which I subsequently purchased. I have today downloaded and installed the upgrade to V4.

Am I allowed to use this software on my second computer and if so how do I get it installed.

Thank you.

V4 Dont rush it.

15th May is rushing at us and no sign of the e-mail. I know I said not to rush things (with the thought of ironing out any bugs)but would really like to receive my e-mail to download.

Looking forward to the download.

V4 Officially Here

Although I dont have my upgrade to V4 just yet, I have had a look at Jane's 'How To Talkies' and want to say a huge thank you to her. They are brilliant and will make my use of V4 so much easier.

Thank you Jane.

Kind regards - Linda

Folder to Keep FH files in

Hello Jane, I have got as far as Tools Preferences File Load/Save and have ticked the box to enable auto-save but cant see where to make FH the default to open the file. Is it the box 'Exclude other applications extensions to Gedcom'?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Folder to Keep FH files in

Hello Jane, excellent link, I have bookmarked it. Also went into My Documents, created a folder for Family Historian, then a sub folder for MyFileGED and put my first file in there. Will add my others as I convert them and bring them over.

Looking forward to using this software.

Folder to Keep FH files in

Played around with Windows Explorer and managed to drag and drop my file over to Family Historian Program Folder.

When I first tried to open the file it again popped up with FTM box but redirecting the search to FH did the trick. Now opens where I want it too.

Thanks for looking
