Exporting to Tribal Pages
Would appreciate some advice please! Until recently I've done very little work on my tree during the last few years and my brain isn't quite on gear... especially as I'm also getting to grips with the new version of FH. The last time I tried to export my FH gedcom to Tribal Pages I got into all sort...

Re: Private Facts
Thanks Mike, I guess the [[]] system might work. What's behind my question is that I don't mind people knowing that I lived at 4A Ormonde Road now that I have moved, but didn't want that data to upload to other websites when uploading a gedcom whilst I was living there. Places are not so much a prob...

Private Facts
Hi Apologies if this has been asked before. Is it possible to flag or mark an individual fact about an individual person as private? I don't want to hide the whole person, just one fact - in particular the current residence address. For living people, I'd like their address to be for my eyes only......

Re: Ancestral Sources - error messages
Yes, I am now using Windows 10... and am using a new laptop (in addition to the old one). Have never had problems using AS previously. :-( Am now finding that when I open AS and try to select the relevant file, my gedcom files are not listed, but only the FH Projects. (The gedcoms are there when I s...

Ancestral Sources - error messages
Help please! I've just tried using Ancestral Sources for the first time in a while. I was able to open it, open my FH project, add data... but it then refused to save the new data. After several rounds of this, I've uninstalled AS, downloaded the current version, installed it... but am now getting l...

Re: Exporting Family Historian GEDCOMs
Thanks Mike.... I'll have to read and digest your response slowly as I have no knowledge or understanding about UNICODES! However, I'm reasonably confident with techy stuff so hopefully will be able to suss it! :ugeek: As far as TP is concerned, I am aware that when I upload a FH GEDCOM not all of t...

Exporting Family Historian GEDCOMs
Apologies if this has been asked before... but, if it has, I can't find it! For the last 12 years or so I've been using Family Historian for maintaining my 'master' tree and every now and then I've exported an updated GEDCOM to Tribal Pages and Ancestry (both in a protected format) for the purposes ...

CD Creation
Thanks Mike. I've tried a .jpg but regardless of how large the size when I save the diagram it still comes out illegible when on the CD. (This is not my own tree, but someone else's that I've been working on - so it isn't huge. Only 26 ancestors.) I've also tried saving the Ancestors diagram as a...

CD Creation
Hi, can anyone help please? I am creating a CD (which I have done several times before) but I am trying to include a tree diagram on this one (which I haven't done before!) I think the wizard is asking for the tree as an image rather than a saved chart? However the quality of the saved .jpg files...

Can a CD 'website' be viewed on an iPad?
Thanks everyone. I think I'm just going to have to stick with giving everyone a CD! The CD option provided by FH is interactive and so well done... it's an ideal way to present a large tree to everyone coming to a family reunion as the number of pages it would take to print everything just isn't an ...

Can a CD 'website' be viewed on an iPad?
Hi I have a large family reunion taking place in a week or so and I've produced a CD from FH. It's quite a large file and will be accompanied by a photograph album (using PowerPoint or possibly a PDF). Am just wondering whether there is anyway that I can make this 'CD website' available to those tec...

Multimedia in V4
I've been using FH for five years or so via V2 and V3 but, until the advent of V4, had never bothered to attach multimedia files to my data. Have now done so (adding 100+ images), and it's wonderful! At least it was... It was working fine - but now although each record is showing that there are X nu...

Tribal Pages and other ways of publishing tree onl
I've had a site on Tribal Pages for a couple of years and am a big fan! I don't use it as a searching tool, and I don't really expect people to find me via it - but I find it a very useful way of displaying my tree. I have chosen to pay a small amount to get rid of the flashing adverts and also to ...

OK... having got completely side-tracked by other things, I'm back with trying to get to grips with these notes! This time I'm interested in creating shared notes. It strikes me these would be an ideal way of saving more general historical and factual information about places etc. I can create an...

2nd or 3rd Occupations?
I knew it would be something simple and obvious... but just couldn't work out what!! Have now noticed the 'Show Attributes' check box! [oops]
Thanks Jane!

2nd or 3rd Occupations?
I suspect I'm missing something fairly obvious, but I can't work out how to add more than one occupation. You know, suppose someone starts out as a Labourer, then becomes a Market Gardener, then a Greengrocer etc. When I've tried to create a new occupation as an event, I get an error message telling...

Ha! Would you believe it? I was just looking in the Downloads section for a query about something else and guess what I found? Right! An excellent query to pull all records with local notes!
Now why didn't I think to look there last night? [oops]

Hi Nick
I'll have to explore the use of shared notes as I didn't previously know they existed... although I've often wondered about the purpose of that blank window!
Edit, Find works just fine for individual notes though. It's just what I was looking for.
Many thanks for your help![smile]

Apologies if this has been asked before... I am using FH 2.3. I use the notes section a lot - but am unsure how to retrieve this information without being in the individual record. Is it possible to run a query of all notes? I tried running a narrative descendants report assuming it would include no...

Thanks Jane... I'm afraid I still have V2![frown]
V3 sounds great. I'll have to invest, but probably not for a few months.

I feel very guilty asking this, because I still haven't got to grips with creating queries in FH... and I am sure it must be very easy. I do it all the time in Access! Please could someone who is a whizz with queries create one that will lift out all records with estimated or approximate BMD date...

Baptism / Christening Query
Is there a standard query that I can run to list all people with a baptism / christing event?
I haven't yet worked out how to create custom queries... but maybe someone could give me an idiots guide? [confused]
