Thank you very much for your comprehensive reply.
I will have a look at the Knowledge Base as well.
I take your point about the cloud storage.... maybe we will consider that later - I don't expect that we will merge very often to start with, while he is working on his side.
Thanks again !

Question about Source numbering when splitting/ merging projects
My son-in-law has bought FH v6.2.6 and I have given him a copy of my Project so that he can add to the Project by adding his family history . He will create new sub-folders under Media to store and link pictures. I may do some more work on my side of the family tree and in due course we can either m...

Re: Restoring my project onto my son-in-law's new laptop running v6
Mike, Thanks very much for your reply. I am not an expert user myself, so although I have a comprehensive set of media, I have never customized any "facts" or diagrams, so I think the Full Backup that you mention is going to get him off and running. I do use Ancestral Sources, so I will also look at...

Restoring my project onto my son-in-law's new laptop running v6
I have a Project on version 6 of FH running on my Windows 7 laptop. It has a folder structure within the Media folder, that contains all my pictures, document scans etc. My son-in-law has just bought version 6 and installed it on his new Windows 10 laptop. He wants to start to build his family tree ...

Find my Past... or Ancestry ?
I have been using Ancestry on and off for about 12 years and I have an annual subscription. I tend to do some work on my tree from time to time, and I might go 6 months without doing anything. I now have version 6.2.5 of Family Historian, and I am intrigued by the Internet Search hints, which are li...

Re: V.6 Map functionality
Ok - Experts will know this, but less experienced users may find the information useful..... What I have found is that I need to add ", UK" after every place name so that the map functionality can correctly locate it. That's fine, it will take me a bit of time but no problem. Then, of course, it lea...

V.6 Map functionality
It seems that the default place for FH to look for place names is USA..... Dartford can't be found unless I change that location to Dartford, Kent, UK and I have the same issue with other place names - am I missing something obvious ?
Thanks.
Thanks.

My first post....
I have been a member of the Forum for about 4 years, and I have been using Family Historian since 2006, but this is the first time I have posted. I have just ordered the Upgrade to version 6, and I am looking forward to using it. I tend to work on my tree about 2 or 3 times a year for a week or so, ...
