Assuming that '\\' is the path it looks like Gedmill can't cope with UNC format paths. These are paths starting with \ and are mainly occur on networked drives/computers.

The important bit about my statement was the 'any' bit. There is a connection, you and your partner. If there are times when you only want to share the data for you or your partner, then you can use the split tree helper function to export the appropriate data. I'm not sure how FTM works, but if you...

In FH, it's best to stick with a single Gedcom (or project) especially if there is any connection between different groups of families. Only if the projects are totally unconnected without any connections between the individuals, and also not much duplication of sources would it be advisable to use ...

One thing that might affect it is the status of the marriage. The type of line changes according to the status. Is the status one where a dotted line appears, and for some reason a dotted line is not that visible on your setup? Is the background colour interfering?

To Do List

FH doesn't have a Todo List as such. What it does have is a Named List facility. With this you can add records to a named list. So you would create a named list called 'Records to check for certificates' as the Todo action, then add the records of individuals who you wish to check to this list. Ther...

Exported gedcom files show everyone as dead...

According to the Gedcom specification, the presence of a fact even if it doesn't have any place or date, indicates that the event occurred even though nothing is known about the details. Most commonly used to indicate a death when the person was born over 100 years ago. In this case, you know the de...

Are you using a full installation or an upgrade? If an upgrade, you'll need to install those first on your netbook. You can't copy the program across, it needs to be installed.

Named lists are not dynamic. They have to be manually updated, either by adding removing records or using a query to populate the list. To keep your named list up to date you will need to re run your query manually. When putting the results of the query into the named list make sure you tick the 'Re...

You have to understand that in Family Historian and Gedcom, a person only has one name - their birth name. They can have alternative names, but generally this is used to give nicknames, other spellings, and common names. The name field in Gedcom is not designed to hold a woman's married name. This i...

It's not possible to have two record windows open. The record window is a special window in that it can't be closed, or opened.
