Projects not Displayed in Project Window
All my projects are displayed in the Project Window on my Desktop Computer running Windows 7 Home Premium . On my Netbook running Windows 7 Starter with SP1 all I get in the Project Window is the FH Sample Project. All projects are in the same folder ie FH Projects and both machines are running FH V...

Spouses with Common Ancestors
I would say 'Beware other peoples work' I don't trust anything from other trees, People copy others work wholesale without any checking, especially on Ancestry. I have only taken part of a tree from an Australian tree which tied in with my daughters Australian in-laws, but I found my own sources for...

Entering Electoral Rolls
Thank you both for your replies. I think that it makes sense to only add ER facts that are important, like where did the wife go after the husband died, or they were living with an aunt etc. No point in clogging up the system with 20 odd Facts/Sources for every one living after say 1920. The size of...

Entering Electoral Rolls
Some advise please. I am have been saving Electoral Roll data from 1921 to 1947, Polls were taken almost every other year. Is it worth entering this data and creating facts/Sources? If I did this for everyone the amount of data and Facts/Sources would be enormous, especially as there are more Rolls ...

Can a CD 'website' be viewed on an iPad?
I connected my Laptop to the TV via an HDMI cable and displayed the FH CD that way, I was also able display the FH programme and answer questions by displaying instant charts on demand.

Court Cases
Your're right, the Misc fact must have been imported from Family Tree Maker when I started using the 'New FH Ver 4' several years ago. In checking the Custom Facts there are ten that I must have created over the fifteen years or so of using FTM from the early days of the pre-internet MSDos version w...

Court Cases
I have a couple of tree members who were involved with High Court cases, one leading to a suicide which I have the newspaper reports and coroners report.
Do I create a new fact called say Litigation or just use the Misc fact? Any advice would be appreciated.

Burials & Graves
Is there any real difference in recording Burial dates and grave photos with grave transcripts in only the Burial fact or should the Grave fact be used for the grave photos with grave transcripts. I can't see any advantage to utilising both facts.

Christening amp; Birth Dates
Tatewise, that is what I have been doing, except that I have been entering the Month & Year with App as the qualifier plus the Source Citation . Perhaps I should use the Estimated qualifier. Thank you everyone for the advice, as I was going to go through all my records and remove the estimated birth...

Thank You for the wish list link, this essential item was raised six years ago and there is still no action on it. I wouldn't have thought that it would be a difficult code change.

Christening & Birth Dates
In the past I have entered an approximate Birth Date when I only had a Christening Date . The parents Facts Window then showed the birth of a child. As I was entering un-proven birth data I decided to only enter the known Christening Date I have now lost the notification of the birth of a child in t...

Adding images to facts
I add images to the Individuals Multimedia Tab so I can easily see what images they have linked to them and I also link the images to Facts , again so I can easily see whether any images are linked. Of course the images are also linked to the source. I may seem to be doing the same thing three times...

Microsoft SkyDrive
With all the talk of DropBox has anyone used SkyDrive from Microsoft to store files and data? It seems that it can be synchronised with any of your computers (PC/Mac), and files can be accessed from any other computer. You get 7Gb free storage or 20Gb more for just £6 per year. I believe my daughter...

I would like to know what the consensus of opion is concerning the county boundary changes that have taken place through the ages. Updating a project after a family history trip
I do what Ann does, that is use a Mem stick or external hard drive, but I don't just overwrite the project and Multimedia, as any files that have been deleted/renamed in the new version will still be in the overwritten version after re-loading the project. I always delete the complete folder before ...

Family tree Fact
I need some advice/ideas, I am fortunate in having several old hand drawn Family trees from various family members who have all been dead for many years and that I have scanned as jpg files. Oh I do, I do.
I just wondered if FH stored some of the media text in some other place as it does with the programme/chart settings.

Data saved in Gedcom
Am I right in thinking that all text that is entered into FH is saved in the Gedcom file? Including all the text in 'Multimedia', ie Title, Picture Note, Keyword and the Note field at the bottom. Also are the Multimedia file links saved with the Gedcom? I ask this out of interest. If all media was l...

Some time ago I configured the columns in the Records Window using some code. I tried using the same code to Configure a new column in the Multimedia Window without success, FH seems to ignore the code. =TextIf(HasFlag(%INDI%,'Saunders Line'),'Saunders',TextIf(HasFlag(%INDI%,'Townson Line'),'Townson...

In the Multimedia Window if you use Find then Search Text and then enter the Keywords separated by a Comma then select All Text Fields.
I find this works for me and has the same effect as using AND.
