I have noticed ( see a previous Post)that FH has created other directories and caused me to be editing the wrong database. To me it appears that FH dosen't like not running within 'Documents and ...

Nick, What you say makes sense. When I think about it FH only started asking me whether to copy or not a couple of weeks ago and was happily using the 'C' path prefix. I only noticed yesterday when I went to link some files in that some paths started with 'C' etc' and some started with'Media' which ...

I have a couple of external drives for backups (Plus my sisters PC offsite) Why would I use a NAS drive or DropBox when I can drag the FH files into the 'Share Files' area on the PC and I can access the data from the laptop. I am...

Hi all,
Help !!
I have lost the 'Copy Media Files' Menu with the Copy/Don't Copy/Let me choose options.
The Manual (page 40/41)talks about the menu but not how to access it. It has suddenly stopped appearing when I 'Add Multimedia From File'.
Any ideas please

Displayin Flag In records Window
Nick,
Thanks for that, it workrd perfectly and, with the aid of Ctrl C & V, I extended it to all seven family lines in no time. When you think that all I needed was a simple commer to make it work, such a silly syntax error that I would never have found.
Thanks again

John

Dear Jane, This line works =TextIf(HasFlag(%INDI%,'Yeates Line'),'Yeates') It puts the text 'Yeates' against all the relations of the Yeates Family Line. This Line does not work =TextIf(HasFlag(%INDI%,'Yeates Line'),'Yeates') or =TextIf(HasFlag(%INDI%,'Akers Line'),'Akers') Where I have used 'Or' to...

Save/Scan everything onto the computer or else you will have cupboards full of paper that will not be indexed/searched as easily as on the PC. With the above you need to have a simple but effective filing system on the PC (in the Media folder on FH) to keep all details about a particular person toge...

Hi, I have 'My Family Tree' folder with the project and all the media on my Desktop computer next to the printer & scanner, but it is a bit anti-social being in another room from the rest of the family whilst editing the FH Project. Thanks for the answer, I think that the dynamic web site will be rather cumersom, a static website with just the Family group sheets and little media (just thumbnails of peoples heads) might be mor manageable, although it will still require a fair amount of work. I think that I will have to define m...

The Web Site idea appeals. I assume that it can be password protected. How long would it take to update a website of 3000 odd files? your advise would be appreciated. Th...

Run FH Project from Flash drive
Hi,
Is it possible to install FH onto a flash drive with all the media etc so it will run. There are 16+ Gb memory sticks available now.
I want to give my children the Family tree so they can just plug the flash drive into their computers and run FH even if I have to buy further copies.

I found it very useful when I used Family Tree Maker (Not New version) to be able to print a diagramm onto A4/A3 sheets where the programme broke the diagramme into sections with text at break points giving the page No. where that section is continued on. It saves taking a long chart into libraries,...
