Tablets, etc
Rather than spend a fortune on a tablet I purchased a netbook for about £300. Large hard drive, runs all programms that I want, Quad speed Atom processor and at least 6 hours of battery usage, more if I turn off the WiFi. Ok, there is no DBVD drive but plug in a USB drive (£30)and you are away. I do...

People with no proof of existance
Thanks for the advice, I have already been using an 'Ancestry One World Tree' source and included the various derived Descendant Trees in the source Multimedia.
I think that I will also create the 'Un-Proven Link Flag.
I don't really like having any person or data that dosen't have some sort of proof.

People with no proof of existance
Some advice please. I am compiling a tree for a cousin, she told me of an 'Ancestry One World Tree' that had many points of contact with people that I know are part of her line. I have been able to verify many people, dates etc. I would like to know how to handle people that I have names & dates for...

Nick,
That worked upto a point.
I was able to get to the sign in page but I was then returned to the Welcome page again, if I tried to sign in again it was as before, the screen goes blank, the address bar shows findmypast.co.uk/signin.action and then I am returned straight to the welcome page.

I used to have general sources ie. Birth Certificate, 1851 Census, LDS Christening etc with each image(s) linked to the fact. Then I had problems displaying images in reports for the 'Make CD' until Tatewise put me right and I am now working through all my facts/media and giving each fact a unique s...

Mass edit of Data after a Query
Yes, Tatewise is correct.
The result of a Query is in columns & rows and by clicking the top of a column it will be sorted, this is fine but the displayed data is un-editable.
This also applies to the Include/exclude media from charts and reports etc

Mass edit of Data after a Query
The result of a query is in spread sheet format.
Unfortunately the 'Cells' are un-editable, It would be extremely useful to be able to highlight those 'cells' and over type the existing data thus enabling mass editing.

getting organized / reviewing / starting over
I have just read the threads from the Tatewise link above and I must agree with the comments about Long File Names. The way FH stores its data means that the Media Folder is about half way through the 255 characters allowed then you start having your data in folders & sub folders etc. Because of the...

I have been using Family Tree software since the mid 1990's when it was MSDos and have therefore developed my filing system as the data grew and my requirements changed. I keep all data files under the FH Madia Folder. I have divided data into 'Family Lines' ie. Fathers Line, Mothers Line, Wifes Fat...

Thanks Jane,I was hoping that there was a way of highlighting the column and just overtyping.
Unfortunately it seems that I will have to change item at a time. A job for my holliday when out of internet range.

Multimedia Flags
Jane,
Thanks for the idea, but the 'Exclude From' column shows both Diagrams & Reports in the same column and I can only delete the whole phrase, not leave 'diagrams' as the exclude from item and I cannot type or paste anything in the space left.
More ideas please.
