Adding icons for the first time
There are various census year icons available in the downloads section. There are sets that cover all census years for England, Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Isle of Man, USA and Canada.
There are also template files for AS2, so that you can assign national flag icons against a countries census and year.

Slow Forum
I have had a lot of slow responses from lots of websites while using IE (8 and 9), so slow that pages timed out.
I have now given up and switched to google chrome, even though the FMP enhanced viewer doesn't work in it.

No problems with window size and buttons, but I had to crash FH after 10 mins as nothing appeared to have happened. 100% useage of one Cpu core. version 1.1 was ok...

Hi Mike,
I would think that utilising Places and addresses together would be the better solution, as I, as well as many others have people from UK, USA and Australia, South Africa and New Zealand in their files.

Hi Mike, Ran OK on My Laptop (Acer Aspire 7741 with i3-380M, W7 home premium x64, 4GB ram, screen resolution 1600x900) all buttons visible and no lockups, but tested on a small (27 entries) file. Mapping places , all seemed OK. Mapping addresses, not so good, as over half were deemed to be in the US...

'Focus Window cannot be closed' - Oh yes
The Focus window can be closed, it is only the records window that can't.
It also sounds like you have changed your prefernces.
Go to [Tools][Preferences] choose the [Startup] Tab and untick the middle option (Display the records window, instead of Focus window, at startup)

Incorrect sizing under Windows 7
A nice 'feature' of W7 is that if a window top bar is dragged fully to left or right, the window should resize to exactly half screen (Regardless of actual screen size). If this is done to two windows it is easy to view them side by side. However AS2 on shrinks to about 55-60%, thus overlapping the ...

If you use ancestral sources for entering, you can asign a flag to each census, If a flag doesn't exist then you can create one.

Map Life Facts V1.1 feedback request
Just installed Beta 4, Can still Crash FH by closing the Help and advice window with the X, on Win XP 32bit SP3.
Everything closes except the map window.
All is OK if you use the close button at the bottom.
I will retest W7 64bit sp1 tonight.

Hi Mike, I have tried to reproduce the crash on W7 pro 64bit windows firewall, but everything ran oK. I also have Win XP 32bit SP3 windows firewall, and I can crash it on that machine. I also choose geocode all and left it running (2496 to be done 46 mins). On returning an hour later the plugin appe...

Hi Mike. No Problems on Win XP 32bit SP3, Windows Firewall NAV 2012. However, If you choose geocode all unmapped, and then realise that it will take a long time, there is no way to stop the plugin running. Clicking x on either of the boxes, just closes the boxes (and no way to get them back), the pl...

That would make sense.
Perhaps instead of OK or Cancel there could be three buttons.
Save: Save & add to Grid; Cancel
to extend this further maybe a fourth option of
Save & New:
for when you are adding multiple children

Census - Adding a person not in file
In a future version of AS.
Would it be possible that when adding a new person, that on pressing ok, the person is inserted directly into the census grid in the next slot?
At present you have to create the person, and then reselect that person to add them to the grid.

Thanks for the help,
I had tried that expression, and didn't get what I was expecting.
I then realised I had to remove the shadow from the flag before it would work.
Thanks to everyone for your input.

I am trying to highlight those people who show a relationship to the file [not diagram] root (I always leave the file root as the same person in each project, in my main project it is Me), as shown in the column in the records pane. These are all in pool 1, but not everyone in pool 1 is classed as a...

It's diagram options to put a shadow round a box o a direct relation (including cousins no matter how distant)of the file root person.
Wouldn't the Ancestor/descendant function just show up/down and not sideways?
or is this the one to use
=IsRelativeOf(FileRoot(), %INDI%)

At the moment I use a flag to highlight direct relationships in a custom diagram. However I have to set the flag manually, so it is not always up to date. Perhaps the opposite would be better.
If All drop downs were sorted alphabetically, then at least it would consistant every time.

If you change your multimedia to have relative, rather than absolute, paths, then the linking problem will go away.
My paths are all set to relative.
I have W7 64bit on one machine and Xp 32 bit on another, and no problems with multi media.
