Gedcom FH 4.1.3 to FTM V6

Try validating your file in FH before copying it to FTM, that should find and fix any errors

backup versus GED file save

I run a similar setup, but have moved my FH projects folder to a 'Dropbox' folder. This means that the gedcom, project file and all media are always available from both computers. It is only the contents of the calico pie settings folder that needs copying. I use Microsoft synctoy to do this (or Liv...

Tweaking the Witness sentence

The sentence with 'experienced' in it is generated by the sentence template inside FH. Not in AS. as Gerry said, go to work with fact sets and follow his instructions to choose your marriage witness and to change the fact set sentence template in the fact set. Any changes will only take affect after...

Personally , I would reccommend 1 source = 1 expression. That way you can have different Icons for each if you want.

the backup file is normally a zip folder, which should be restored through the file menu, not by changing the extension

Why does FH run at variable speeds?

Does the speed at which the program runs at depend on which project you are running (if you have more than one)?

how long has your computer been on before running FH?
I know that my XP machine takes about 30mins before it will run at a decent speed and its a 2.4Ghz quad core

Copy Media Files Menu

FH is quite happy with your project folder being anywhere you like, as long as you tell it where to look. On the startup screen choose {more Tasks}, {project List}, {Choose Location..}. FH will then default to your new location from then on unless you reset to installation settings. This does not ap...

Mike,
Based on what you have said, then shouldn't the custom attribute be for an individual (Not for a family as Tommy has).
I admit, I have been stuck on this, and the discussion is helping me as well.

[EDIT] Looks like Lorna is thinking the same

auto text and notes

That's the way I do it.

Or for the child add an alternate name in FH, then make it the primary name, then do the AS entries. Once back in FH revert the names. Diagrams will then show the main name and underneath will (can) show aka [secondary name] if the correct text scheme is used

That works well, however these conditions 'Must' be placed higher than the 'Sex' option to work

Viewing multimedia images

If you select a person the click on the media icon on the toolbar (Not the one in the property box), there are two options
View All Media
View media for selected person

You should be able to use a variation of the expression

=IsAncestorOf(FileRoot(), %INDI%)

But I don't know how to specify someone other than the file root

Change any Fact Plugin - Query?

Hi Mike, I am trying to use your Change any fact plugin to convert one of my obsolete sources to the one I am now using ( I mentioned this in another thread). I want to copy all the references from the citations for the source 'X FreeBMD' and convert them to the source Free BMD Birth (1837-1915) for...

Mike, Will your plugin be able to cope where I want to change a source from Source A, to Source B (Both of which already exist). I use method 2 recording, but my earlier GRO sources  covered BM&D, now I have  a separate source for each type. Original source is X Free BMD (I put X at the front so I d...

Mike's Map Life Mapping plugin - use?

Is it possible to put a warning 'Splash' Screen as the plugin starts, to warn about the limit.? or possibly an intermediate starting stage ( a bit like the menu for the AS plugin) with a warning that can be switched off by the user. I know that I just dive straight in and only look at the help if it...

I can't speak for other's, but I use Ancestral sources for entering my Baptism and census (and soon Marriage) data. I stay with the spelling in my file, then create the auto text entry for citation text and amend the spelling there to reflect the original source. Using AS you can also save an image ...

Individual Properties, Spouse Citation missing

The only time you can view Focus and spouse facts together is when you are on the {Main} tab. The only facts viewable this way are 'Name', 'Birth', Death' & 'Marriage'.
The {Facts} tab only ever shows details of the focus person or joint details from the point of view of the focus person.
