AS media not showing in FH

How have you got AS set up?
Are you using method 1 or 2?
You may be attaching the images to the source as opposed to attaching to the fact

Find Duplicate Individuals

Hi Mike,
Very impressive speed increase,
my 29000+ took less than 25 minutes this time around.

Is there, or can there be, a way to save the result set? And also maybe to choose how many matches in the result set?.

Keep up the good work.

Census persons at same address

In V5 you can use:
Tools
Work with Data:
Addresses....

choose the address you want:
then select: Where used:

This will produce a query result set for all occurrences (Not just census)

Find Duplicate Individuals

Hi Mike, Tried V1.1 this morning. Took just under 3 hrs to process 29000+ Individuals on a 2.4G Quad core running XP SP3 3GB Ram (But I was doing lots of other stuff at the same time), but no errors this time. Results were: '17'      '28039'      'Philip Christopher Teare'      '24039'      'Philip ...

If you still have access to another computer on the same network that has a cd drive, you can share the CD drive, then install across your network.

Find Duplicate Individuals

I Got the same error [invalid pattern capture]at about 15% of the file (3 Mins). My file has 29,000+ Individuals. I use square brackets to denote unknown names, could this be a link to ChrisM's error, I noticed the the name he had problems with used square brackets? No problems with the computer slo...

custom diagram as default not being saved

Thanks for your help MIke.
I have reported the issue to Calico Pie, and they are investigating.
The split version of the expression works OK, with the minor side effect of showing 2 icons if the individual has more than 5 census entries (which could actually be a bonus)

custom diagram as default not being saved

That would seem to make sense Mike.
I have only used this particular expression since version 5 (you worked it out for me).
I suppose a work around would be to split it in 2, (but also to report it to Calico Pie).
At least it is not me going GaGa.

custom diagram as default not being saved

I have just done some further examining, and the fix is sort of working. What is happening is that the 3rd expression which contains: =IsTrue((Exists(%INDI.CENS%) and Not(Exists(%INDI.CENS.OBJE>%))) or (Exists(%INDI.CENS[2]%) and Not(Exists(%INDI.CENS[2].OBJE>%))) or (Exists(%INDI.CENS[3]%) and Not(...

I have not been able to get your work-around to work for me Jane. I have also now updated to 5.0.4 and this problem is still not fixed for me. (Although it is supposed to be) I have tweaked an older diagram, saved as default, and then saved as custom diagram. The new diagram stays as the default for...

Handling Cross Adopted Children

Everyone has there own method.
I would tend to leave them just attached to there original adoptive parents.
If you select the new couple as as family, and choose a diagram, then both children will be shown, in their correct relationships

FH can't find my file

It might also be worth using windows search to search all files and folders for '*.ged' (Without the ' ').
This will find all the gedcom files on your computer, regardless of where they are.

Data not going accross to Family Historian

As per my previous post. If you launch AS using a plugin, you do not need to tell AS where the file is, The plugin will automatically open the file you were working on, wherever it is. This is extremely handy if, like me, you have several unrelated projects. There is also no need to set a default pr...

Data not going accross to Family Historian

If you are using FH5 then use Mike Tate's 'Ancestral Sources Data Entry' plugin to start AS.
This not only checks that your file has been saved first. but opens AS with the correct project, and on the person you had selected, It will also close AS on save for you.

I have 'revered' one of my installations to vers 5.0.0 and as pointed out above, the pool numbers have reverted to Normal, ie all direct relations in pool 1 and a total of 175 pools. My file is also synced on dropbox, and the same file in vers. 5.0.2 on my laptop is exhibiting the weird behavior wit...

organizing large quantities of photos?

I tend to have my photos (as opposed to documents) orgainised by Family name. Documents are organised by type (+ Year - Country for census). If you are using FH4 or FH5 then I would reccomend letting FH copy the files to the media folder, but choose the save location, thus keeping some sort of order...

These are 'Pre Release Candidate' so are not picked up by the check for lateset version, although they can be downloaded from the Calico Pie site. I agree, there is something odd happening. I have a whole sequence of close family members. All in pool 1, but their spouses are in pool's ranging from 140 to 150, each spouse having a different, incremental pool number These are records that have not been amended recently and were all in pool 1 ori...

If you clone the diagram you use tweak your settings, and then save as a custom diagram (not chart)then choose save as default, your settings should be there each time. Do you have birth or marriage events recorded against the individuals concerned? a lack of birth event could plausibly cause what you are getting.
Do the pool numbers stay the same after you save, close and re-open the file?

Help - direct line indication in Record view

I agree with Mike. I too used to use generations. I hardly (If ever) use the focus window, and do most of my work using a customised all relatives diagram which uses a combination of expressions and flags to show, with icons, the information that I want at a glance. I find this so useful, that I wou...
