Re: TMG to FH import of Flags
Mike, If the flag name is too long FH truncates it (The limit is about 7/8 characters) you can see the effect by opening the flags file in a text editor (Which can also be used to change the names) You can also see the internal flag names using the data assistant on a query. So, to Quote DonF's exam...

Re: Biting the bullet
In Windows 10 (In fact since Vista aero), if you grab the title bar of one instance of FH and drag it to the left or right of the screen it will snap to fill half of the screen, in the other half it will show all other open tasks, just click on the other instance of FH (or the other program you want...

Re: Renaming Media Files
Thanks Mike,
That works exactly as I want it to, I just have to watch out for filenames that start with the year (Ie already tweaked), But I have re-arranged the media tab columns to see that.
Thanks for your help
John

Re: Renaming Media Files
Brilliant, Thanks Mike, i actually modified it slightly to include - to be left so used [^%w%(%)%- ] Now a step further. My media titles all have the media type keyword as the first word i.e. Marriage 1925 Douglas (St Georges) - (Page 240) Baptism 1877 Douglas (St Matthews) - (Page 188) Census 1901 ...

Re: Renaming Media Files
Just got around to trying the modified plugin (No ID) and have noticed that the rename also replaces space and () with the _ character (Which windows does allow in filenames). Is there a way to stop this happening?
TIA John

Re: Auto text - bug?
If you have not edited the auto text (After clicking Auto) then any changes made in the data entry will also update. If you have made changes to the auto generated text (Even just adding a space), and then add more data the auto generated text will NOT update. Just clicking Autotext and choosing the...

Re: Renaming Media Files
Jane, knowing little about plugins, but using them a lot, How would I modify your plugin to just rename files to be the same as the internal title (No record ID prefix)
My naming conventions have changed over the years, and as such I have several 1000 records to catch up on.

Re: 1939 Register - updating entries
Enter all the information as a new entry (With new image) then delete the old source citations afterwards (AS will overwrite most of them, but birth . name and occupation citations will remain)

Most years are covered By AS, and there are custom templates for the interim census years (Some not all) available. I'm sure someone who knows how to will post the link in a reply

Re: Unable to load object
I have been having a similar problem, which I have reported to Calico Pie. All media thumbnails load OK initially, but after several entries I get either "Unable to Load Object - A problem has Occurred" or "Unable to Load Object - Out of memory". If I then close FH and restart, then the same media f...

Re: Backup & Restore - not a new database
I had already done that for all three tests mike.
I now use symbolic links to point to a local thumbcache on each computer.
The times achieved were after I had excluded the cache folder.

Re: Backup & Restore - not a new database
I have experimented with One Drive, Google Drive and drop Box. My findings were this: One drive: OK with a small database but my large file took over an hour to synchronise. Google drive: As with One drive but faster. Google drive also locks files when updating so I would get save errors whilst work...

Re: Relationship Queries and Functions
Lorna, I beg to differ, the "How related tool" will not always connect people in the same pool (I have tried), although I think it should. There would appear to be a limit to the number of spouse connections involved. I have someone in my pool one who is my 2C2R though my father. (Found by Tool), bu...

Re: Editing
If you use Method 2 sources, then just redo the data entry in AS, replacing the existing entries, and then manually delete the extra source citations form occupation and birth entries. If you use Method 1 sources, then open the relevant source record and manually edit the citation, the copy and past...

Presuming you have saved your scheme as a custom diagram, save another copy with a different name and delete the box expressions, (Or choose a suitable standard diagram).

Re: Export Fact Definitions to GEDCOM
Mike, I get the "Can't complete, not enough memory" error in any export mode with media included. (I mainly use Gedstar Pro now) I put this down to the fact I have 23,430 medi items. Runs OK with Wipe-All. On an aside. I mentioned before about Genes re-united and date ranges. GR handles date ranges ...

Re: Icons, Expressions Diagrams
Mike,
That is what I wanted. if for example, Ellen Bradshaw did have a earlier marriage for which I had no image, then only an M2 icon would show for her, meaning I have more work to do on that branch.
I have had this box scheme since V5, and it works for me.

I also have created a witness of "Probate" and manually ad...
