Re: Position of proxy boxes
Thanks to Mike and Lorna for their responses - yes this was a direct import from TMG, which as Lorna observes, sorts tags (facts) into date order automatically, with the additional flexibility of a sort date to force the precise sequence you desire for tags which share a common date.

Re: Position of proxy boxes
Thank you John Morrison - simple when you know how!
But what possible reason can there be for not putting data in date order as default?

Position of proxy boxes
I recently generated an All Relatives diagram for my father and noticed that where proxy boxes occur, they are always positioned at the leftmost end of the group of siblings to which they belong, rather than in their correct date order. Since the stated aim of proxy boxes is to enhance the diagram s...

Re: V6 Fails on TMG direct import
An update - I have passed my database to support at Calico Pie and they have been able to reproduce and confirm the problem.
The matter has now been handed over to the program developers.

V6 - Further TMG direct import failures
I am afraid that the TMG direct import in V6 is totally unfit for purpose. Although the tags (facts) are imported, their contents are nowhere to be seen - by this I mean that a TMG tag for, say, "Occupation" transfers to the V6 project, the contents of the tag "Miner" or whatever does not. Back to t...

V6 Fails on TMG direct import
I have downloaded and installed V6.
I attempted a direct import from TMG, but the process fails part way through the "Import Witnesses" step.
Is there a log file I can look at which might give a clue as to where and why there is a problem?

Re: Retaining TMG Source ID on Import
"I subsequently found a number of gaps in the numbering (eg a jump from Source ID 361 to 375 within FH). Within TMG, the two sources had sequential numbers so I don't really know what is going on" That is weird - presumably you had run the Optimise - VFI - Optimise routine in TMG before attempting t...

Re: Retaining TMG Source ID on Import
I think that FH should really be configured to honour what it finds in a TMG file when it does a direct import. This is something Calico Pie need to address. However, in the absence of rapid progress on that front, it should be eminently possible to fill the gaps in source numbering in TMG. Go to Ma...

Re: Norton identifies threat in AS 4.0.1
Curiouser and curiouser.....
the errant file (if so it was) was a copy that had been automatically backed up to an external drive by GFI Backup.
I have checked the original downloaded copy with Norton and it is clean!
So... go figure!

Norton identifies threat in AS 4.0.1
Hi,
my Norton 360 has just removed what it claimed was SAPE.BitCoinMiner.3 from a copy of ancestralsources64bit_4_0_1.exe on my machine,
Is this a false positive, or is there a problem?

TMG to FH - Missing source citations - Potential solution
I have been experimenting with transferring data from TMG to FH using Direct Import and (like a considerable number of others) have run into the problem of source citations not being honoured in the transfer. I found that in the transfer of a test project (a subset of my main project) which had 137 ...

Re: The Master Genealogist to be Discontinued
I have also been a satisfied user of TMG for many years. The recent announcement prompted me to try a direct import to FH, but I found that the process failed to honour many of the links between facts and the source(s) that supported them. Was this the sort of problem you found tatewise? As I unders...

Positioning of Husband and Wife boxes
Hi Jane, thanks for your response. I have tried basing the 'All Relatives' chart on a couple (by selecting both of them in the records window using ctrl-click), but if I do so, all standard diagram options apart from 'Everyone' are greyed out, so no joy there. Is this one for the wish list? Regards,

Positioning of Husband and Wife boxes
Greetings, I tried this one on the mailing list but there were no takers, so I thought I would try it here...... FH follows the accepted norm in displaying husband and wife boxes in diagrams i.e. husband on the left and wife on the right. Is it possible to reverse this? The reason for asking is that...

Generation stripe width in all relatives diagram
Jane, thanks for that explanation regarding the 'rows per generation' setting. The root cause of this inability to compact the All Relatives tree seems to be the fact that when the tree is first generated, the vertical positions of the subject and direct ancestors are determined by the number of row...

Jane,
thanks for your response - I have seen reference elsewhere to a setting governing 'rows per generation'. Where is this setting?

Generation stripe width in all relatives diagram
Greetings all,
after moving boxes within one generation to align them horizontally, how do I get the generation stripe width to reduce in line with the reduced vertical space the generation now occupies?
