Take a look at both sets of BMD records on Ancestry and compare with FreeBMD, they are sometimes different.
The other thing that I find is that if there is an odd number of people when you do a search one of them may be a duplicate but mis-spelled. So your three may actually be two.

Incomplete GRO reference
I had a similar problem this week where the reference just showed an underscore (_) where the page number should have been. However, when I looked at the index page myself by looking up surname, quarter etc I found that with close inspection I could read it ok. I suppose the transcribers can't spend...

Where do you stop..........
Where do you want to stop? That's the real question. I have been bitten badly by the research bug and am really fascinated as to what happened to my families. Yes, that tends to bring in people who are not directly related but that's up to you to decide. Personally I work on the relations first the...

Cassini Maps
Looks good but at £6.49 per map would soon break my bank[frown] I picked up a copy of The Phillimore Atlas and Index of Parish Registers at the Family History Show last year reduced to £30. It is great for maps, place names etc. and covers all of the UK. I actually enjoy just thumbing through it[rol...

Unreliable secondary source material
Sources can be a real problem and not just other peoples' research. Twice (only twice so far) I've been fooled by what appears to be exact matches elsewhere only to discover later that the lead I had was completely wrong. The worst was my g(x3)grand father who disappeared from the village where his ...

Could this photo have been taken in 1911
Off subject really but... Dis nobody notice that Jane's response (17/03/07) referred to the ladies look as 'slapper'... I think she means 'flapper'. In the UK 'slapper' has a particularly bad connotation; I should know as I made the same mistake in telling someone I liked very much that she looked l...

keeping census information organized for dum
Interesting topic. I've found that keeping my census images logically (at least in my head!) has been really useful and unlike some others here I have needed to refer back to the images quite often. I must admit that I will often save an image rather than enter the details directly in to FH as usual...

Help me get started with limited info - please!
The best tip I've got came to me recently. Using freebmd.org I downloaded a text file (s) of all the occurrences of my search family names. I then put them in to a spreadsheet and used the autofilter facility to find all births in a location in a time period for a particular family name. Sadly a pro...
