Hi Mike,
I thought I had media linked to the individual as per screen shot or may be I am mistaken. Screen shot of all records attached and linked media.
Now I am confused and appreciate your help with this.

Re: Diagrams & custom source
Hi Mike, I have not customised The All Events and Attributes text scheme although used this as-is. This is displaying on the diagram most of what I need with an exception of text that I have created in a custom source. So the All Events is working for me but not with the custom source I created. Tha...

Diagrams & public information
I have created a text scheme for a diagram in V6.2.2 using "all events and attributes" and would also like to include the "public information field", which is where I have recorded the source record reference from the record office.
Is this possible and how would I achieve this.
Thank you.

Diagrams & custom source
I have created a text scheme for a diagram in V6.2.2 using "all events and attributes" and one of my sources is a custom source.
The name of the custom source is on the diagram although not the text; can I/how could I include the text on the diagram?
Thank you.

Re: Media linked files
Thanks Mike, I was running FH V4 so did a clean install of V6 and copied my media files over from DVD. The standard file names I am referring to are a standard that I have set for my media file names. Using Tools>external file links>edit I can change file names in FH and then change the actual file ...

Media linked files
I have a new laptop and getting back into family history.
I have copied media files over and would like to change file locations and names to a standard format in FH.
How do I do that in FH 6.2 (I have looked in the manual)?

tweaking with AS
I input data into FH V4 using ancestral sources in 2012. I am now using FH 6.1 and AS 5.1.3. I can see data entered by AS in FH although if I try to modify I do not seem to be able to pull in the original data into AS. I see the individuals and navigate in AS but do not seem to be able pull their da...

I use FH on a desk top although it is sometimes useful to have on my laptop; do I need to purchase two licenses or can I use under the fact that I will only ever use 1 PC at a time and use the same copy without license infringement?

Re: Importing FH project creating in V4 to V6.1
Well thanks to all. I always choose SW carefully and a key decision is the support from the user group. Following your input I copied the files from the DVD preserving the directory structure and I now have the FH project including the linked media; saved me hours before re-starting my research. To ...

Importing FH project creating in V4 to V6.1
I have not used FH since V4 and trying to import a FH project and get "an error occurred during file processing". I can open a GEDCOM file off the DVD. I can use explorer to view files in the project. Is it possible to open a V4 FH project in FH V6.1?

Gedcom FH 4.1.3 to FTM V6
I have sent a copy of my gedcom file produced in FH 4.1.3 and the receiving end is Family Tree Maker V6. FTM is erroring on the import and stating 'file was not shut properly last time'. I have not exported my gedcom just copied the file but notice the manual has a section on export; does it have to...

second marriage
I have a second marriage and want to create a second census entry for an individual whilst his previous family is still shown in the same census year but different place. I also have the 2nd marraige detail and would like to enter that. Had a look for previous posts and guide but cannot see anything...
Backups
I have omitted copying 1 file to the media/census folder and 4 others are in media not media/census. In the record view I can select properties for each file. I was thinking of changing the path under properties and copying the file using windows explorer. Is there a better approach?
Backups
I always create a hard disk backup on exiting FH but would like to create a DVD backup in case of disk failure. Currently I copy the FH and another local folder of mine (contains images) to DVD at present. When using AS I always copy images to the FH media folders (may be over kill). What folder sho...

I am using AS V3 for baps and sticking with keeping parents names static but my sources did not. Advice on how to do this in AS appreciated. thanks again for help, yes I can see some options including data re-entry. This is something I have accepted that I might have to do because I did not approach using FH with such accuracy originally. Fortunately my research was far more rigid and have copious indexed notes plus print outs from 12-16...

Thank you. Yes I have used ancestral sources and very impressed particulalry with the video tutorials on youtube. Just installing V3. I had originally created these entries with gedcom census and was just tweaking (fiddling) and putting data correct in FH. Thanks for the tip on bap & b but think I w...

Oh dear more mistakes by me. I have added a number of children with a born on and it should have been baptised on. Can I, how do I change the relationship for existing records (little nervous of unlinking and trying to add existing record)?
