I've just looked at my old PC and in Preferences>Backup in the Default Back up Folder it is just C:\Users\Jane\Documents\Family Historian Projects. I don't seem to have a Backup folder as mentioned in Step 5

Re: Moving from PC to Pc
I've copied the files over and FH seems to picked my project up ok, the location is correct, as the default Start up file, however I'm at a loss finding the Default backup folder located in FH. Many thanks.

I was following the Moving from PC to PC advice and have now switched to the Standard Migration Steps. On step 4, my entire Family Historian Projects are saved onto a USB pen, if I copy them over to the new PC would I copy these files into my documents? as this is where they are stored on the old PC...

Re: Back up and Restore
Yes, the screenshot is taken from my Windows 7 laptop. The only thing that I can think of is that I upgraded from version 2 on CD and then from this to FH 4 in 2009 then FH 6 in 2015. I've only ever used the Plug in twice, as before this I didn't realise that I had to back up customised facts sepera...

Back up and Restore
I'm in the process of transferring FH from my old Windows 7 laptop to Windows 10 and using the plug in to do this, I am a bit confused by the options given. I don't want to keep any of the old files so would the Keep new backup data file be the one to pick? Many thanks.

Re: Project not saving my custom facts
Thanks Lorna, I've reset the sample Project to it's default settings and am now going through all the custom facts that are undefined.
I always thought that a sample project meant that you could happily practice anything within it at no risk to the other project/s

Oh dear! I didn't realise that if I deleted custom facts out of the sample project then it would delete Custom facts accross ALL projects? If this is the case how do I get my Sample project back to it's default settings without mucking up my project?
Thanks Lorna

Re: Project not saving my custom facts
Hi Mike, and many thanks for your help. Opening and closing FH, there is no problem with this, my mistake, I meant the problems are of the facts and sources. I've installed the standard options in FH (as far as I can tell, as it was a few years ago now) I also checked C Drive Program Files(x 86) and...

Birth details of children
I've just created a source, attached it to the fact tab for Military Service, Royal Air Force btw 1917-1920 then attached the image to the file and cited the source to my ancestor. I'm quite happy with this however within these records it gives the date and place of each of his children's births. I ...

Re: Newspapers fact
Many thanks for your responses, I think I'll attach the sources to the standard fact sets as Lorna suggests.
Never thought of doing that Bob. I'll have to look at the ISR and try that.
