Re: Splitting my husband's side of the family away from mine
Hi Mike, Yes, the reason being that my husband is not at all intested in family history so I won't be inputting any more information on his side of the family at all. I just thought it would be easier if his side was completely separate from mine and if/or when any family members express an interest...

Splitting my husband's side of the family away from mine
I wonder if I could ask for help with the above? I've read a couple of topics on the subject of using split tree helper and the plugin "All Pool Relatives Except Partner Ancestors" but not sure which one I should be thinking of using or indeed which boxes should be ticked or unticked. I want to spli...

Re: Running FH on two computers
Well I've managed to copy from my Window's 10 laptop onto the flash pen and followed the instructions until I got to the following: 1. Within fH on your Win7 PC, select File > Project Window> More tasks > Project List > Choose Location for Projects and choose your Flash pen. (This ensures that on yo...

Re: Running FH on two computers
Thank you all so much for all the detailed help, it's very much appreciated. I'm going to start by doing a complete back-up first just in case before continuing any further, then over the next week or so I'll give it a go. At present I have my Custom Facts installed on both laptops, using the...

Re: Running FH on two computers
I think it's time to reach for the wine bottle! Lol  Yes, I'm only intending to use both computers in the house (although not at the same time of course!) after thinking about the pros and cons of using the USB stick or cloud based options I decided to stick with the USB method as Windows 7 sup...

Re: Running FH on two computers
All my media files are stored within my project and the only customizations I've done are Custom Facts and a plug-in for the back up and restore. I'm a bit concerned about the fact of inconsistant data files though. I did wonder about using Google Drive instead as both laptops are linked up with ema...

I've done a seach in the Family Historian knowledge base help and come across "Sharing Data using a USB stick" and thought about following this?

Running FH on two computers
I've got FH running on my Windows 10 laptop upstairs but I would really like to be able to have the same data on my other laptop as well (running Windows 7) I have installed FH on both laptops but not sure about how to go about copying new data from one to the other, esp. as I have media, custom fac...
Re: Wills
When did you order yours Valkrider? Yes, apart from the usual "we will endeavour to provide a response within 2 working days" I've heard nothing. I've sent them an email tonight so fingers crossed I'll get a reply on Monday or Tuesday
Re: Wills
I ordered three wills from their site on the 27th of July and still waiting. They must have a huge backlog!

Re: Backing Up
Hi Mike,
Yes, I did see the restore tab in the plugin. Unfortunately I didn't read your reply properly and thought (wrongly) that there was a restore folder contained in the Project/Backup files.

In my add media tab for an individual I have a group wedding photo that I've linked to their property box so I get a nice head and shoulders photo next to the husbands name. I then used the link to face for the bride's in the photo, then changed the name in the Title bar of the edit Media item box t...

Re: Male child with just a surname on a Birth Certificate
Hi Brian, There was nothing added in the Baptismal Name after the Registration of Birth. To be honest, normally I wouldn't have took a chance and ordered it, however the GRO had the additional extra information that the Mother's Maiden Surname was given in the indexes so I was pretty sure I had the ...

Re: Male child with just a surname on a Birth Certificate
Sorry, maybe I didn't explain it very well! The child's forename on the birth certificate is missing from Column 2 - however Columns 4 (Name and Surname of Father) and 5 (Name and Maiden Surname of Mother) are filled in with all of the parents details.

Male child with just a surname on a Birth Certificate
Any ideas on how to record the above? I have a baptism entry which relates to the above child being named as George. I would like to record the birth but don't really want <no name> followed by his surname. Many thanks.

Relative named in Board of Guardians
I've created a residence fact and source titled Board of Guardians Admission Records for an orphan whose uncle is named in these records over a couple of years as his address was given, however I wasn't sure if this would be the best way to go about this so instead I've linked the source and image t...

Re: Moving from PC to Pc
Yes, I've checked the Family Historian Project files, Custom Facts and Plugins and all seem ok and I don't intend to run FH on both laptops, one is enough for me! I didn't have any saved back ups to organise so I've now created a new folder called Backup in the Preferences>backup (see screenshot) I ...

Re: Moving from PC to Pc
Thanks Mike, how do go about creating a sub folder for my back ups in Family Historian? I still have the old PC so changes can still be made before transferring from one to the other.
