Pity the spell check didn't pick up 'Shoping' in the Great Sites drop down!
Apart from that it looks great.

How do you organise your files?
It has been interesting to see the various methods people use. I have a 'Genie' folder which contains: 'Census images' with subfolders for different years and then file names are Thomas Dawson 1841 etc. I use GEDCOM to link these to census sources. 'Certificates' which is split into Birth, Marriage,...

Baptisms were recorded, but not all took place in Parish Churches, there were many non-conformist baptisms. Some parish records include Dissenter births (where the vicar was aware a child was born but had not baptised it). Some children were probably never recorded.

Parish record query
It could be three baptisms recorded at the same time. They were all children (son or daughter of ..) from the look of it and no ages are given.

It looks good, but I wish a bit more space had been given to recent posts, an extra couple of lines for example.

There is a website for Catholic History with links to Family History, you might find a contact there or a link to a better website

Genesreunited - dates missing
Is there a fast way to change all of the date ranges to single years? Or do I have to do them one by one?

I have noticed that when I upload a gedcom file to GR that where I have a Quarter date in FH the date is blank in GR. I don't want to remove the information from FH so is there any other way around this?

Place Query
I want to create a query that gives me the same results as Tools, Work with Data, Places when you click on Records, but I want to see the results for all places, or for a selection, not just one at a time. I don't know where to start.

Did you save the census entry then reload your gedcom file through FH. If you have both open at the same time it will tell you that changes have been made and ask if you want to reload the file, say Yes to see the changes. Also are you looking in Events as that is where the census data appears.

On the details tab in the education field I write 'none-could not write his/her name'. In other cases I write 'could write his name' since this is often the only indication we have that they had any education. From census returns if a person is described as a scholar then I assume they went to school.

Contact the County record office where the original register is held. If you give them the date, church and name they might be able to provide you with a transcription or you could buy a copy of the page from the original register. You can often get extra information this way, in the case of a chris...

I am still stuck with this, I can't understand what I have done wrong SOUR.OBJE[1] In each case it lists the first multimedia object except for census files entered with GEDCOM census, if I go into Work with Multimedia and link the same object to the source a second time it appears on the list but d...

I used to use Family Tree many years ago and although it used files .GFT it would let you Export a GEDCOM file, perhaps your friend could send it again. If not get in touch with me as I still have the Family Tree CD and I should be able to convert it for you
