Hi Nick
I have some baptism certificates, copies of entries from baptism registers which I would like to link with the baptism entries.
I also have mourning cards, notices from newspapers and photos of graves which I would like to link to deaths/burials if that will be possible.

Place of Marriage
I am trying to find a consistent approach as I want my reports to make sense. The problem with recording the Church as the address on a marriage makes no sense since you cannot really do this on a baptism or burial since the individual's address is in the register so it should appear in the address ...

Using the Move Selected Row up in census grid just moves the name, not the occupation or birth place. I cant be sure if the age moves since the two people involved were the same age.

Place of Marriage
I am sure this has been discussed before but I can't find the thread. When I first started using FH I recorded place of marriage/baptism as the Church e.g. Chelsea, St Lukes, London This allowed me to report on events that took place in a particular church. Now I am wondering if St Lukes should be t...

I am sure Nick is right, but I am firmly in the 'I hate Vista' camp and I hope to upgrade soon.

If you have any children with your partner use one of them as the starting point for the diagram, that will show both families.

Grave headstones as a source
Thank you all for your advice. I think I will stick with primary source for gravestones I have actually seen myself and secondary for MIs as I have been doing.
Perhaps I need a new classification - unreliable primary!

Grave headstones as a source
Would information from a grave headstone be classed as Primary, Secondary or what?
In some cases names and dates vary from other sources, also other children (who died much earlier) are mentioned.

Tidying Up Sources
You can merge quite easily by going to the sources tab on the records window, select a source, click on edit and compare records, then choose the source you want to merge with - in the same way as you can merge individuals. You can also click on a source, then View, Record links to see which records...

I made use of the free access over Christmas and I have to say I was not impressed. I found it very frustrating.

Wish list items need to be discussed and clarified otherwise no-one would vote for them if they did not know what they meant.
I enjoy following the discussions too.

Can anyone tell me what the definition of larceny would have been in 1848, sentences range from 1 to 6 months and I am not sure if the definition has changed over the years.

I forgot to mention that I have a folder called certificates & registers which has subfolders births, marriages, deaths, baptisms, burials where I save the images and photos of headstones all these images are linked to sources.
It works for me.

London Marriages, Baptisms and Burials
I have made LMA a despository stating in the notes that it is via ancestry. Then I created sources such as Baptisms: parish name, I use the where within source field for the rest of the information. I create a separate source for each individual marriage though, but again I use LMA as the repository.

Ancestry.co.uk has London Marriages etc available, as well as being partially indexed you can view the original, copied from the church registers. This means you can see original signatures and it can save a fortune as you do not need to buy the certificate to get the information.

I would suggest you look at the tree and try to find out where they 'pinched' the names from, that would be a better connection by far.
