Printing a chart as pdf

Hi Jane

I didn't get as far as printing, I was trying to save it as a pdf meaning to start printing tomorrow, there is a discrepancy between the page breaks in FH and the pdf it creates.

Printing a chart as pdf

I have a very large chart with lots of pictures inserted into it. I have it nicely laid out with page boundaries in the right place. I tried to save it as pdf with 'Use Current Page Layout' and then all of the photos seem to move around a little bit, making some of them break over two pages. How do ...

I wish someone had told me . . . When I started

I agree with the people who say keep a careful record of sources and ask older relatives about the mystery people in photographs.

I wish someone had told me how much stuff I would accumulate - I would have had a bigger house!

Ancestral Sources - Baptisms

In some of the Catholic Baptism registers names of godparents are given - would they be associated persons in the same way as marriage witnesses?

Yes, but if you have them in a note you can always create an individual record later.

Marriages Discussion

In some cases (mostly pre 1837) the same person witnesses almost every marriage on the page, not because he is in any way connected with the couple, but probably because he was the Parish Clerk and could write his name. I don't want to create every witness as an individual in FH, just the ones who a...

Place of Marriage or Baptism

I am sure this has been discussed before but I can not find the thread. When recording a baptism or marriage, which field do you use for the name of the Church. If the place is Ashington, Northumberland, where do you include Holy Sepulchre (the name of the church). I need the address field to record...

Census Birth Place

I had a similar situation where one of my ancestors gave his place of birth as Lowick in 1851 (the parish) then Ooley in 1861 and Mt Ooley in 1871. I was driving up to Edinburgh one day and saw a tiny sign post for Mt Hooley which turned out to be the name of a farm in the parish of Lowick. Have you...

findmypast is free during England games

I received an email from findmypast to say access to all their data including 1911 census is free during England games (starts 30 mins before kick-off).

I thought some of you might like to take advantage of it.

FHUG Tool bar

Yes I stay logged in to FHUG however I suspect my daughter may have changed some settings while she 'borrowed' my laptop during her last visit - I will work through them.

Thanks for the suggestion about cookies!

Hi It might be worth looking at Ancestral Author, it can either produce a pdf format document for you with as many inserts of pictures, charts etc as you want, or if you prefer you can save it as a text document which will contain the information from your ged file, but allow you to edit it and then...

Ancestral sources log files

After creating several census records this morning, I had to restore my project backup from last night. Now I cannot re-enter the things I did this morning as it keeps telling me 'You have already selected this individual for this census'. Is there a way to edit the log file, or what should I do. Ir...
