Re: Query re design of Improve Website or CD DVD HTML Plugin
The approach I've taken in the past (in js scripts in my scripting editor) is to prompt for a local directory which holds the relevant js and css files (which the user has previously downloaded) and check that the expected files are present before proceeding. The FHUG KB could perhaps hold guidance ...

Query re design of Improve Website or CD DVD HTML Plugin
Mike, I just started looking at doing a modified version of your plug-in to support two other Lytebox equivalents, thinking it would be relatively simple. (I want consistency between the lightbox in FH and on the rest of my website, which I'm redeveloping, and Lytebox and your other alternatives are...

Re: Getting started with Ancestral Sources
To get targeted help, I think you need to be a little clearer about exactly what problems you're having with AS. Perhaps give us an example of what you've done and what didn't come out as you expected?

Re: Map usages
Leaflet looks promising, for anyone willing to investigate: http://leafletjs.com/. I'm lucky -- the CMS I use (Drupal) is an almost-entirely free software ecosystem and will let me integrate maps via Leaflet pretty painlessly (if I'm willing to enter the data manually).

Re: Dropbox synchronisation
Further to my previous message I discovered there are 2 conflicted files located in my Family History Projects > Casey > Casey.fh_data > Cache. Both are named MyHeritageCache (Jennie-PC's conflicted copy) but the dates are different 2015-02-29 & 2015-01-22. There is also a further file simply entit...

Re: Dropbox synchronisation
Jennie, Most computer-based synchronisation software would advise you that both of the files being 'matched' have been edited since the last sync, so they can't be updated because they conflict (i.e. they are both different from the last version synched), but I don't know if Dropbox is as 'helpful'...

Re: Dropbox synchronisation
Have you checked for 'conflicted copies' on both PCS -- those happen when the same file is inadvertently opened and updated on both PCs at the same time. Dropbox doesn't know which one is master and keeps both.

Re: Common interests / research
Stack Exchange encourages specific questions that have a specific, canonical answers. A question is asked and respondents weigh in with a carefully-thought-out response which is then vetted through voting and wiki-editing (improving on the answer). The key difference is that each answer posted has ...

Mike, http://genealogy.stackexchange.com/ is not a forum so doesn't belong on that page -- would you prefer a new category for Q&A sites, or shall I change the title of the forums page?

Re: Common interests / research
Another excellent Q&A site is http://genealogy.stackexchange.com/ . However, it is quite different from the forums that many of us are used to, so it's worth lurking a while to see how it works (and reading the help pages). Disclaimer: I used to be a moderator there, and another member of this forum...

Re: Entering Evidence! Style citations
I just use the short title as you do, for an easily recognisable name for the source, and put the full Evidence Explained citation in the long title. There's no way to italicise text so I mark it with <i> and </i> for conversion after web pages/reports are generated.

I'm a little confused -- AS is a program that runs on your PC, not in a web browser.

Re: version 6 Facts box settings
From What's New in Family Historian 6 (within the Help file): •Extended Family 'Timeline' Facts ◦You can optionally show extended family ‘timeline’ facts in the Facts tab of the Property Box. These ‘timeline facts’ can be easily ‘toggled’ off or on, and are distinguished from normal record facts by...

Re: Vn 6 Data Error ~ Timeline
FH6 is not adding facts to an individual, it is displaying facts associated with relatives of that individual to give a more complete view of an individual's timeline. These facts (as you have discovered by deleting some of them) are still associated with the correct individual. From What's New in F...
