There are still locals (mostly the older ones) who call it Cisester. The only exception that springs immediately to mind is Cirencester ("siren-sester").

Re: Working with source citation copies
I don't see anyone being rude here. I do see a lot (on all sides) that I do and don't agree with (all that follows is my opinion and if course I may be wrong/others will have equally strong and different opinions). I definitely agree that doing a lot of work to change to a different system of citing...

You may be right Nick. I'm not seeing the quality of matches so far that suggest anything other than first and last name and dob and dod are being sent, but I may just be unlucky.

Re: FH 6.2 - FindMyPast Hints
There are 2 apis -- the hints api and a 'related Search API'. -- I'm not clear which one FH is using. The Hints APIshould give better results than the Related Search API , but my results suggest it's a the related search API -- I'd love to be proven wrong..

Re: FH 6.2 - FindMyPast Hints
Sounds like something for the wishlist, as does the ability to restrict hints to a particular geographic region.Does anyone know if it is possible to query whether or not a person has any hints?

Re: FH 6.2 - FindMyPast Hints
From the FMP API documentation: The endpoint to call our API is: http://api.findmypast.com/search/category/count No .co.uk option for FH to use to generate the list of hints. (I've tested and the .com url returns an error message complaining that I haven't specified the paramaters correctly; the .co...

Re: FH 6.2 - FindMyPast Hints
Mike, no doubt FMP will improve their API over time -- if it's in their commercial interest to do so. Perhaps Calico Pie will be able to exert some influence, as may other software providers who decide to take advantage of the API.

Re: FH 6.2 - FindMyPast Hints
If I'm reading the FIndMyPast API documentation correctly, there's no way to specify the scope of the search -- so Calico Pie can't implement one at the FH end...

Re: FH 6.2 - FindMyPast Hints
1. I've decided I prefer to use an external browser window, as it allows me to arrange apps better on the screen.
2. Agree -- looks like you need to have a subscription to accept/reject FMP hints. (Annoying if you are getting hints for a region you don't have a subscription for).

Re: FH 6.2 - FindMyPast Hints
If I'm logged out of FMP when I try to review I'm asked to log-in (not unreasonable as it shows you the whole record when you review it, unlike -- from memory -- MyHeritage). The internal FH Web Search windows gives me a blank window (I've had similar problems in the past which is why I don't use it).

Re: FH 6.2 - FindMyPast Hints
I have a UK FMP subscription -- when I click on the hints count in the focus window I get a page that looks like this (no need to log in)
I can then review each hint and confirm or reject:

Mike, true -- but I'd be very (pleasantly) surprised if this functionality was included in 6.1.x.

Re: Multi-page images (that old chestnut)
Mike, I guess this needs to go to the plugin store as the equivalent functionality didn't make it into 6.1?

Re: Ancestral Sources v5.1 (Beta)
Are you using Windows 10? is your account the owner of the files (you can see this in properties->security->advanced) and does that screen show your account has full control? Yes, Windows 10; yes, I'm the owner; yes, I have full access. I doubt Dropbox is protecting the files -- it doesn't have tha...

Yes.When you say 'until I ran as administrator', I assume you mean you right-clicked on the shortcut and selected 'run as administrator'?

Mike, as per http://www.fhug.org.uk/forum/viewtopic. ... 430#p67108 I did all that the first time the error occurred -- no change to the permissions; files were not read only at any point.

Re: Ancestral Sources v5.1 (Beta)
Did you just try it once and then 2nd time as Admin or did you try it more than once and got the same error. I tried it several times as an 'ordinary' user and got the errors repeatedly then tried as Administrator. Backup wasn't running at the time and MSE doesn't usually cause problems like this. ...

Re: Ancestral Sources v5.1 (Beta)
Nick, after I installed the upgrade and started AS, I got 3 error messages saying I was denied access to update the settings files in C:\Users\Helen\Documents\Ancestral Sources\Settings. Double checked and I had access through file explorer and they weren't marked read only... Ran AS as administrato...

Re: Formatting individual reports
Mike, an individual summary report can include extensive notes that would benefit from justification, if it were possible (which I don't think it is).
