Report it to Calico Pie via http://support.calico-pie.com/open.php. Re: What specifically can you currently do with a gedcom 7 exported file?
I'm also not sure how much can be discussed without the moderators imposing restrictions because of the forum rule not allowing us to "promote competing products or discuss the commercial practices of any company". Discussing exporting to another product is fine (we have a whole forum dedicated to ...

Re: Property box Icon
The particular icon in the screenshot is the Media icons. Other icons that can appear in the column are the icons to show there are Witnesses or Notes for that fact. From the Help file: The final column in the Facts List is the 'More' column. This can display the following icons: Witnesses flag: Scr...

That icon appears against a fact on the fact tab if and only if there are media attached to the Fact (or to a Source or Citation for the fact).

Re: Implement a "nulls last" sorting option to prevent blank data appearing first when sorting
Given how many higher priority wish list items there are I wonder about cluttering it up with items such as this? The voting mechanism is what determines an item's priority. As Mark has said, it should be relatively easy to define this requirement so that it's ready to go onto the Wish List. What's...

Re: Version 7.0.19 Install Issue with directory junctions and one drive
I am using directory junctions on just four directories as per the instructions / recommendations in the FH Knowledge Base. So, nothing that FH does not understand / recommend and which it should cater for. For clarity, the FHUG (not FH) Knowledge Base is neither produced nor endorsed by Calico Pie...

Re: Source Record Title confusion
Taking Helen's example, I would have a Title similar to her Short Title (i.e. what the source is), no Short Title, and all the details of where such as date and weblink etc in the Publication Info field. That's also keeping it simple and "as designed" (the clue is in the field name ;)). But that's ...

Agreed. Impractical and unnecessary.AdrianBruce wrote: ↑01 Mar 2023 15:20So yes, a templated source can have a Short Title just as a generic source can, but I'm suggesting that for many people, that's impractical and therefore "irrelevant" to the discussion.

Re: Source Record Title confusion
I'm going to come back to my personal mantra: keep it simple and use it as designed. For random example I have a Generic Source with: Title : Youngstown, Ohio. "The Youngstown Daily Vindicator" 10 July 1902 (digital images), Google News (https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=pqgf-8x9CmQC&dat=190207...

It wasn't registered twice; it was indexed twice, once under the father's surname and once under the mother's. IIRC, this was standard practice if both surnames were given but the child was illegitimate.

Re: Source Record Title confusion
I configure Record Title to serve the same purposes (minimise column width, using a convention to enable quick searching). I guess it depends how and where you want to use the (long) Record Title. My short titles would be a bit too concise for my liking in reports so I prefer a slightly more descri...

(unless you're mixing Generic and Templated Sources, and that way IMO lies madness). It's all a matter of personal preference of course, but...

Re: Source Record Title confusion
I'm not saying there is any particular benefit just contesting some of your claims that it isn't used when several standard Queries do use both forms of Title. Those queries existed in the same form in V6 before Templated Sources were introduced, so of course they use both forms of Title. IMO Lorna...

Re: Source Record Title confusion
I only use generic sources but I find the short title very useful. 1. It takes up less column width in the Records window (and in the 'Sources for' pane attached to the Property box) than the full title so it can all be seen without adjusting column positions. 2. By using a naming convention which ...

I didn't say there was any advantage, just that Short Title was possible, whereas you said Templated Sources have only a Title . I later qualified my statement to say Templated Sources don't have a Short Title by default , probably because there's no need for it (unless you're mixing Generic and Te...

Although not recommended, there is nothing to stop Templated Sources from using the Short Title as well as the Title . Are there any real advantages to doing so?
