Re: Edit of Marriage record

I noticed that Martha is shown as 'Under Age', so could it be something to do with her not having parental consent?

Re: Diagram icons using expressions

Just as an update - Editing the existing source - I had to change the generic type on the All tab of the Source box. On the main page where it has Type, I could add Death Cert but it didn't change on the Source Records page and didn't add the icon to the diagram. I haven't found how to change AS eas...

Re: Diagram icons using expressions

Many thanks for your suggestions. I would like to keep the 'Death Cert' option as I only want the diagram icon to show where I have the death certificate, and not if the date of death has been derived from elsewhere - probate, MI etc. I will probably go the route of editing the one already added and...

Diagram icons using expressions

I have been using expressions to generate icons in diagrams and it has worked well. Recently I used Ancestral Sources to enter information from a death certificate using the templated sources option, but the icon I use for a death certificate isn't showing. Under diagram options on the boxes tab, th...

Re: AS Templated source query

Hi Nick

It seems obvious now you have said it. I should have thought more about it.

Thank you for your help.

AS Templated source query

Firstly let me say thank you to Nick for the very useful census conversion - it has saved me hours. I do have a query about the templated source, which I have found when converting a census where the head of the household is a married or widowed woman. On clicking on the 'Edit Source Template' link,...

Re: Transportation custom fact query

Magic, many thanks.

I don't usually delve into the advanced features - maybe I'll be a bit braver.

Transportation custom fact query

I have been trying to set up a custom fact for transportation and can get the sentence to read properly, but on the individuals fact tab it is showing as transported in Australia rather than to Australia.

Any help greatly appreciated

Re: FH CD Creation problem

When I right click and open with Firefox, it does display the home page. And now when I double click it, it also opens on the home page. I had done the reset browser defaults before I posted after looking through past posts on the subject, but maybe I've done something different now. If autorun does...

Re: FH CD Creation problem

Thank you for the info about a pen drive, it is very useful.

When I double click on
start.html or load.exe
I get the home page each time
When I double click on index.html
I get the index
but when I double click autorun, it opens notepad, which shows
open=load.exe
icon=fh.ico

FH CD Creation problem

I have generated a CD using the wizard in FH, and the preview works fine. When it is burnt to a CD and put back into the PC, I get the Run.exe window, click on it but then nothing happens. I can hear the disc spinning up for a while and then it stops without loading up the browser. If I do the open ...

Project data folder

While I was checking the 'work with external file links' tab, I noticed that most census images were in the project data folder, but some were under the C/User/Hilary/Documents.. etc. Is it possible to move them so they are all together? Thanks Hilary http://www.fhug.rjt.org.uk/images/uploads/FH_fil...

Sorry

I have just been doing this.

With the diagram open, click on the Diagram tab and choose 'Pages Rows/Columns & Boxes' and then 'Make all boxes the same width'.

I had a similar problem especially when the first child was illegitimate, so there was no spouse known.
I added another column to the records window to show the surname of the 2nd spouse. You could go on and add 3rd, 4th ....

Set up problem

How to interpret this cause of death

Returning to your earlier quote about the first and second wives being sisters - in 1885 the second marriage would have been a prohibited marriage. This was not changed until the 'Deceased Wife's Sister Marriage Act of 1907'. Not that that stopped one of my ancestors in 1880, when he married his you...

Probate question

Hi
I had a similar situation with one of my ancestors, Daniel Fox.  He died on 3 Oct 1842 and his will was probated on 5 July 1859, which was a month after his wife died.
Whether she knew about the will or it was only found after she died, I'll never know.
Hope this helps
Hilary
