Wills, Executors and Beneficiaries
We have quite a large number of posts on this topic already, but I could not quite find the answer to my dilemma. I have started to look at filling out the details on the wills I have in my database. Previously I had only recorded dates of the will and a separate probate event. It seems I have a cho...

Re: Families with Flexible CSV Importer
Mike and I are pleased to announce that a new version of the Flexible CSV Importer plugin is now available from the FH Plugin Store . The latest version is now 1.5 which is probably an understatement compared with the previous version. All the dialogues have been re-written, there is new functionali...

Re: Families with Flexible CSV Importer
After some more testing and trying different column headings and looking at the code, I have established a method that gets the marriage ages of both husband and wife attached to the event. I have also successfully entered a second marriage for one of the parties. Here is a summary of my findings: A...

Re: Families with Flexible CSV Importer
It was the syntax for the spouse that was missing
PF.REFN
If I want to add ages at marriage and use
P_S.MARR.Age:P
It creates duplicate marriage facts. How do I prevent that happening?
Thanks,
Graham

Families with Flexible CSV Importer
I am trying to use the Flexible CSV Importer plugin. I am having difficulty getting the plugin to recognise my family links and marriage information. I have looked at the notes in the plugin itself and tried several variations without success. These are my current CSV headings: REFN,P.NAME.GIVEN,P.N...

Re: Birth Registration and Mother's Parents names
This is a related issue when working with this type of record. Often the location of the chapel where this event occurred is someway from the place of residence. That's fine at first sight as the place of Residence is captured for the event but a Birth is incorrectly recorded at the chapel. So how d...

Birth Registration and Mother's Parents names
Some nonconformist registers of births include details the maternal grandparents in the register. This is of course really helpful and often this information was recorded well before civil registration in 1837. I am using AS so you could argue I should post my question there... So how to set up asso...

Thank you, Mike (again). I realised this would be useful in "seeing" where people were in their census family groups.

Expressions in a Diagram
I would like to be able to colour code the boxes in a descendant diagram when a particular place occurs in a specific census year. %INDI.CENS[year=1841]% identifies the year. The place element is in the second part of the place, but I cannot work out how to search for it and combine with the express...

Re: Rearrange Address and Place Parts Plugin - usage
Mike, I have done a quick test on this and it seems to work as expected.
I had previously written a custom query to list the Address and Place parts in a similar fashion so that I could select them for the Plugin.
Thanks,
Graham

Mike, I have tested this both for Address part shifting to Place and Place part copy to Address. It works as I would hope and the sort is fine for me too.
Thanks,
Graham

Re: Rearrange Address and Place Parts Plugin - usage
Yes, I did see the green Result Set link but that was one that did not work for me.
Because it was Address records I wanted to move to Place I would have preferred an optional sort on Address, accepting as you say, that would not be so good for the Places.

Thanks Helen.
I tried to access the help pages in the plugin but the link to this page does not work from "Help and Advice". In fact, the only page that can be accessed is "Input Filter".

Rearrange Address and Place Parts Plugin - usage
When I use the Rearrange Address and Place Parts Plugin for a selected Address/Place combination I get a spurious entry added of the format {A0}, {A1} to the new places. That is for all the places that share the same place record not just the one selected in the Input Filter. I am trying to move a s...

Thank you. That works well for me and you have added the maiden name too of course. If you have not done so already it should go into the Plugin Store.

Add GRO Source plugin
Could I request an update to the Add GRO Source plugin. Now that we have the GRO index online with age at death information (which was not previously on freeBMD), would it be possible to add the age field? A couple of "nice to haves" in addition, would be if the selection of Birth, Marriage, Death w...

Yes, I have varying numbers of parts. A country, for example, is position 2, 3 or 4.
The issue with "Work with Data" - "Places" is I cannot get that selection into the Plugin.

Columnised Place report
To use the Rearrange Address and Place Parts plugin it seems first I need to be able to select some of the places. Ideally, I would like to run a query to separate the place elements (i.e. the comma-separated parts) in a columnar report that can be sorted to group the misaligned places. Does that qu...

That's better. They import now, but it has highlighted I still need to clean up some of my locations!
The nice thing with FT Analyser is that you can map against a background of the National Library of Scotland's historical mapping.
Thanks.
