Re: FTAnalyzer information
I have used the Export Gedcom Plugin to create a Gedcom for FT Analyzer . It imports OK but reports that none of my locations have Lat/Long coordinates. However, if I check FH my locations do have coordinates. Are the locations not correctly formatted for FTA? Just to confirm, I checked the Gedcom f...

What do you do with a brick wall?
Wondering how others tackle brick walls in FH ? No doubt many of us get to a point where we just cannot identify someones' parents. What do you do? Flag it on your to-do list? Keep researching? Stop!? Sometimes I find that I can actually look over the brick wall. What I mean is, that there are a num...

Converting Sources: Method 2 to Method 1
My specific case is that I have some census sources that have been created using Method 2 ("lumped") that I had created in a previous program that I used (Genbox), and before I knew better. I have ignored them for a long time, but would now really like to tidy them up. The original sources do not ha...

Keeping preferences and plugins in sync
I have been keeping my project files nicely in sync on Google Drive for some long time which is useful when swapping from desktop to laptop. It works flawlessly unless I shut my laptop cover and forget to close FH properly then open a new session on the desktop a day or two later. Nothing is usually...

Individual details in fact query
The solution in this post 6664|Individual details in fact query did not work for me in V6. Rather than: =GetField(FactOwner(%FACT%,1,MALES_FIRST),'%INDI.BIRT[1].DATE%') these two entries added to the Columns section both worked a charm Birth date: =FieldText(FactOwner(%FACT%,1,MALES_FIRST),'INDI.BIR...

Re: New search for the Forums
When there are multiple results from the same thread would they be better grouped? Or a "group by thread option"?

Re: Recording DNA links
I have created a simple custom attribute and a custom query.
I note that the fact has a field to hold a website {%FACT._WEB[1]%} but how do I make this field visible to enter data in the property box?

Recording DNA links
My apologies if this question has been asked a different way! I am interested how other FH users handle their research following a DNA test. Whichever provider you use you will typically spend some time exploring matches to other researchers, finding common ancestors on their trees held elsewhere. H...

Mike, Duplicate Facts.fh_lua works well for me. It gets me to the individuals I need to investigate.

Re: Query for multiple fact types
Thanks I will give the plug in a try. I have merged some individuals from another file and a few have multiple facts the same e.g births with different sources but I need to review as some should be combined or transferred to a christening. I will look out for Mike's "Row" tip too. Thanks Graham

Query for multiple fact types
Some of my individuals have multiple facts of the same type. How could I identify them by modifying say the All Facts Standard Query by adding an additional column?
I only want to show those individuals with multiple facts of the same type.
Thanks,
Graham

Changing a source citation
There is a useful plugin " Replace Selected Source Citations " for changing citations. However I only want to change the citation for a subset of all the citations for a particular source. The subset is based on the Fact type (e.g. Birth, Marriage, Death). Is a small modification to the plugin possi...

Re: Family Historian
There is a description of how Cameyo does this here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cameyo . When you run the app the first time it creates an extra folder on the USB with a set of system files and folders. The next time you run the app it starts much faster, in fact not much slower than a desktop ins...

Re: Family Historian
I too had a need for a USB version to use away from home. The http://www.cameyo.com solution worked well for me, but as I already had FH installed I created a VM a clean (WIn7) installation as I had the ISO file. Cameyo recommends using a virtual machine anyway. Steps are: 1. Install Oracle VM, good...

Re: 1939 Register - updating entries
It might be too late in this instance, but when I am adding new entries for the 1939 census I edit the "Text from source" section to include the redacted entries in a household. They read as e.g. "Subject no. 3 redacted". I don't have an individual for these entries but seemed a useful way of recogn...

Mike, what sort of "undo" feature might be possible? Step by step or all changes in a session?
