Re: Out of Memory
I just got the same message of "out of memory". Somehow I think that in my case it is the same as the "unable to load" that Mike resolved by suggesting that I delete the cache. I closed the program and deleted that file and the media that I was trying to open did open. I am also wondering if, becaus...

Re: Media Problem: "an error has occurred - unable to load object"
Thanks again Mike. I've made note of the "gets too big" issue so will have that in mind if I get another message that says unable to load. Hopefully FH6 is able to handle really big files as I am up to some 61,000 people and I have no idea how many media files.

Re: Media Problem: "an error has occurred - unable to load object"
Thanks Mike. I deleted that file that appeared to be "rather" large and the image opened. I don't understand why that particular .jpg would not "load" or open as I subsequently found other pictures, etc. that downloaded and opened without a problem BEFORE I deleted the file. And I had opened the fil...

Media Problem: 'an error has occurred - unable to load object'
I'm attempting to add a marriage record from ancestry.com to my media file. I've used their "save to" method and put the record in my media file as a .jpg. When I try to put it in the individual media box I get the above message. I also copied the file to the desktop and dragged it into the media fo...

Re: Missing function in Project Window > More Tasks
FINALLY!! Thanks Mike. It usually is the little detail that is either the one that doesn't get done or done correctly so you don't get the result you want OR it is the one that fixes the problem. I now have a clean list!!
Again, many thanks to all the folks at FHUG who are so helpful.

Spell-Check
Is there any update on whether or if FH will have an auto spell check? Sure would be handy.

Re: Missing function in Project Window > More Tasks
Jane - I had hoped that your suggestion would work. I exported the two files that I want to keep in the file list to a separate file folder so that they could be imported back into FH without losing anything. I used the clean out Gedcom list plug - it ran. When I reopened FH the list was still there...

Re: Missing function in Project Window > More Tasks
Guess I'm missing something here. I went into my project window, said New Project, imported one of the Gedcom files that I am trying to delete from the Gedcom File List, then when that was added as a project I selected Delete, said yes to deleting all files. It is STILL in the Gedcom File Tasks list...

Re: Missing function in Project Window > More Tasks
I'm going to try to attach the two files again. Files say in JP2 File (.jp2) format but won't attach. I'll see if the snip it will work ---. FH closes out the Project list when I activate the snip tool. However did get it to do the project window. Ok says File too large (Max 256Kb): Project Window.J...

Re: Missing function in Project Window > More Tasks
Hopefully I can attach a couple of screen shots that will clarify my question. The list of Gedcom File Tasks has 9 files. I want to delete several of them from the list. As you see in the project window, there is only the one project showing and the More Tasks button does not provide a way to delete...

Missing function in Project Window > More Tasks
I'm currently using FH 6.2.7. In my Gedcom file tasks I have some 9 family trees listed. I want to delete 3 or 4 of them but retain those currently working on or still there for reference. One of them listed is my main tree with some 61,000 individuals. [Yes, it is backed up on the hard drive and an...

Re: Record Id
Hi Mike, First off: this will be my last post re this topic. Some of it may be a repeat -- Again my thanks for your input regarding my Record ID questions. I did contact Calico Pie and got this response: "When you import from other gedcoms, sometimes the record ID's are renumbered, So there is no re...

Previous note had some of those ID Nos. Then just now I did another snapshot for May 20 and one for May 9. For Lambertson updated on 5/20 and ID is 20 and custom is 19266 For Roe updated 5/20 and ID is 21 and custom is 19267 For Mary Augusta Sherwood updated 5/20 record ID is 5588 and custom ID is 6...

Re: Record Id
Back to the salt mines unfortunately OR we may just have to say ???? STRANGE. Was convinced when I wrote my last post [but was probably somewhat fuzzy headed due to the hour] that I had the answer as I found the individuals - No. 20 and 21- in FTM from 2008 as well as the spouse. What I did NOT do w...

Re: Record Id
Forgot to put in a listing of one of my backups. They are all listed pretty much this way.
FH Gedcom Backup - Sherwood FH Sept 2011 - 2017-05-24 0741
Maybe that helps in why no application was found?
Thanks again.

Re: Record Id
Finally found the answer. Came in a strange way though. I was following your instructions about going back a few days and looking at the numbers there. I made my notes and then while trying to restore the latest file, I fouled up and was about to panic. Got that solved. Then since #20 was husband to...

Re: view PDF files
OMG - I was just able to download, install and open a PDF file with the program suggested here. Didn't linger long on that file as I was so amazed that I could actually get the thing and it WORKS. So thought I'd share this with you. I used the link found here, got to the website. Originally clicked ...

Re: Record Id
Thanks Mike. I'll try to do a bit of experimenting as you suggest. Hope I don't throw everything off. I'm thinking if I use a BACKUP from the 21st and perhaps the 22nd that would not present a problem for me [not SO much technically oriented] that I would lose data. Or maybe even better, export a co...

Re: Record Id
Record 20 and 21 were initiated on that date. Others that were initiated that date had the next consecutive #recorded. Some worked on that date were changes or additions to older data and some got assigned a Custom ID and some not. Again I have made no changes to how things are recorded. Unfortunate...

Re: Record Id
I have no clue as to why this happened. I have just added quite a number of individuals that seem to have the numbers added correctly. I usually don't keep the record number visible on my record list so am not really paying attention to the record numbers. However, just looked again and found that t...

Re: Record Id
Same topic but different issue. I recently added a new individual to my database. In reviewing his info I find that he has been issued a record ID of 20. Now the previous person's number is 58586. I can't begin to figure out how this happened. I've tried to change this number but with no success. Ca...

Re: Find and Replace Not working
Thanks for all the efforts to find a quick solution to this problem. I think pretty much everything has been explored so it looks like a reinstall is the final answer. Don't have the time at the moment but will post the outcome when I am able to do the install. Again, great group here with good sugg...

Re: Nervous about upgrading from V5 to V6
I've used FH through several versions and like you, Jessie, was a bit nervous about upgrading from FH 5 to FH 6. I did wait a bit after it was released to do the upgrade. I sort of expected to have a bit of adjusting to do with the upgrade but found that it went so well I was comfortable with it imm...
