Further information: I've just tried to maintain a second pdf file MM record in the Multimedia Records window, and this is showing similar, but not identical, behaviour. in queries, as an alternative to an ExistenceCheck for events.

In fact, an ExistenceCheck that could be used more generally - e.g. in queries for Attributes and/or Events - and could be parameterised - e.g. IfExists(%INDI.CENS[year=%{'yearparam']%) or similar - would be extremely helpful.
