"Occupation" Issues
Nick, Just noticed a couple of small issues with AS: 1. I have a chap whose occupation was previously recorded as "Labourer in Brick fields" or "Labourer on Farm". When recording a Baptism for one of his children his occupation was noted in the register as "Labourer". However, when I try to input th...

Re: FH5.0.9 running under Crossover on Mavericks -moving scr
I have Assign to: None and the window does not move when I change Desktops. Neither does the window move when I select Assign To: This Desktop . It does move when I select Assign To: All Desktops . If you don't get this behaviour I suggest you delete and reinstall Crossover. If this doesn't help the...

Re: FH5.0.9 running under Crossover on Mavericks -moving scr
Possible solution: Right click on the Crossover icon in the Dock. Click on Options. If you have Assign to: All Desktops ticked then choose one of the other options and see if that changes the behaviour.

Re: Double Date Problem?
Thanks, Nick, and sorry to keep burdening you with these problems. AS does make inputting these events so much easier and consistent so this is just to let you know how grateful I am for all your hard work in developing and maintaining the program. Gerry PS Not wishing to add to your burdens but wil...

Double Date Problem?
There seems to be a problem with AS 5 accepting double dates for the last/first year of the century: Screen Shot 2014-05-05 at 11.01.35.png and it won't accept the alternative: Screen Shot 2014-05-05 at 11.01.53.png The information does display correctly in FH 5.0.9: Screen Shot 2014-05-05 at 11.04....

Re: FH-v5 AS-v4 WinXP Crossover & Wine Bottles
I have now had chance to do some digging with this. This works without crashing: Open FH, then choose project, then use the AS data plugin it opens AS. Input data and save. I have AS set to close after data save. Back to FH get the file changed warning and accept FH updates fine. I have the same se...

Re: FH-v5 AS-v4 WinXP Crossover & Wine Bottles
Sorry, Nick, I meant that the whole program is frozen, including the message box, and clicking on reload has no effect. I then need to use Force Quit to close the program.

Re: FH-v5 AS-v4 WinXP Crossover & Wine Bottles
I'm intrigued by the idea of the applications locking up. Are you sure that the message box that says 'File needs to be reloaded' (or whatever) isn't behind the main form and waiting for you to click on it? Can you Alt+Tab through the windows to see if there is a dialog you're not seeing? No, Nick....

Re: FH-v5 AS-v4 WinXP Crossover & Wine Bottles
It might, of course, just be the way my Bottle is constructed - possibly missing or superfluous applications.tatewise wrote:Thanks Gerry, that is quite conclusive.
If Colin gets similar results, then that appears to be a Crossover bug that needs to be reported to them and hopefully soon fixed.

Re: FH-v5 AS-v4 WinXP Crossover & Wine Bottles
Just conducted a very quick test using Notepad++. Changing the Gedcom in Notepad++ locks up AS and vice-versa. Changing the Gedcom in FH locks up AS and vice-versa, as reported above. And changing the Gedcom in Notepad++ locks up FH and vice-versa. I don't think these are consistent results but cert...

Re: FH-v5 AS-v4 WinXP Crossover & Wine Bottles

Re: FH-v5 AS-v4 WinXP Crossover & Wine Bottles
As a follow-up to the discussion about installing FH and AS under Crossover/Wine I have been inputting Baptism and Marriage records via AS, using Mike's "Ancestral Sources Data Entry" plugin. The only issue is when the newly input record is Saved in AS, which then closes, and the focus returns to th...

Re: FH-v5 AS-v4 WinXP Crossover & Wine Bottles
There is one other consideration. If the FH PDF Printer is retained, then the following might work: Use Save Diagram As > PDF File (.pdf) and in Save as PDF File dialogue click OK . In the Print dialogue replace Family Historian PDF with Mac PDF Writer . If possible, set any properties/options and ...

Re: FH-v5 AS-v4 WinXP Crossover & Wine Bottles
What happens if you use the following with Publish any Report: Print command on right using Mac PDF Writer . Save Report As > PDF File I suspect the KB advice is in error. When Colin got PDF printing going using PDF Writer and said everything was OK, I assumed he was using the Save Report/Diagram A...

Re: FH-v5 AS-v4 WinXP Crossover & Wine Bottles
Ah this maybe where Gerry is going wrong I don't use the dialog in that way. I select file > print then chose the printer (my default is my colour laser) and then select print. I don't use the Save Diagram/Report As > PDF File I let the pdf printer deal with it. That works OK for me too but you hav...

Re: FH-v5 AS-v4 WinXP Crossover & Wine Bottles
I reinstalled FH 5.0.9 to get the Nova printer driver. Although the Diagram>Save Diagram As... PDF file (.pdf) "Save as PDF File" dialog now displays, clicking OK crashes FH. I then reinstalled FH from disk and applied the upgrade to 5.0.9 but get the same result. I tried the Print setup route but i...

Re: FH-v5 AS-v4 WinXP Crossover & Wine Bottles
Gerry To save space you can delete the FH PDF printer as that doesn't work and FH continues to function perfectly without it. I recommend Firefox rather than IE and I always download using Mac to get any apps or plugins etc. DO NOT use IE inside the bottle for downloading as it can lead to some of ...

Gerry, please read through the all KB advice page. It seems that if you had done that to start with, and used a Win XP Bottle as advised, your problems would have been avoided. Ditto Plugins - the KB advice explains most of what you have reported, including Backup & Restore FH not working. Have don...

Well, in desperation I started from scratch and recreated as nearly as I could the applications in Colin's Win XP Bottle then installed AS 4.0.1 and FH 5.0.9. Re: FH-v5 AS-v4 WinXP Crossover & Wine Bottles

It has .Net v2 and v3.5 in addition to FH 5.0.9 and AS 4.0.1. I have also customised the bottle in accordance with the KB in...
