Re: AS 4.1 and .Net Framework 3.5

Well it seems after all those problems I had a faulty install of Win 8.1. Having had no luck on the Parallels Forum I went onto the MS chat line. As they were demanding $99 dollars to sort things out I decided that self-help was the answer! I inserted the Win 8 Pro installation disk and things spran...

Re: AS 4.1 and .Net Framework 3.5

Thanks for that link Mike. I did follow the instructions to use the "Turn Windows features on or off" and also used the Command Prompt route with the installation disk in Drive d:. But I have not been able to get either to work, although it seems that dotNet Framework is installed or, at least, know...

AS 4.1 and .Net Framework 3.5

I can't see this listed anywhere as a problem so wonder if someone can advise me what I am doing wrong. Having upgraded my computer memory and reinstalled Win 8.1 I have downloaded AS 4.0.1 and installed it. On running the program I am advised that AS needs .Net Framework 3.5. Win 8.1 offers to down...

Re: Delay using Ancestral Source Data Entry Plugin

Mike,

Just to let you know that I have downloaded and run your new version of this plugin with FH under Crossover. The "Please choose a data entry mode:" screen opened in about 2 secs and didn't seem to find any additional versions of AS.

Re: FH Plugins and Crossover - ToolTip Issues

Further to my previous post I am unsure whether it would be worthwhile raising the Tooltip problem at Codeweaver as their support is only using the trial version of FH and say they can't run plugins on this version.

Re: FH and Crossover - Lookup Missing Census Facts plugin

Mike, Having raised the issue at Codeweaver support it doesn't look as if the browser selection problem can be resolved so I will need to stick with IE7 for the time being, as you suggest. Also I am unsure whether it would be worthwhile raising the Tooltip problem as the support at Codeweaver is onl...

Re: FH and Crossover - Lookup Missing Census Facts plugin

Perhaps the following should be performed in a new Win XP Bottle to avoid upsetting your working Bottle . Try removing Internet Explorer 7 to see if FH and the Plugin will then use your Safari browser. You also need to check that Plugin Help and Advice pages still work OK. If there are problems wit...

Re: FH Plugins and Crossover - ToolTip Issues

Mike, If you don't mind, I will hold this Tooltip issue to post later on Codeweavers as I don't want to get embroiled in two discussions there at the same time, especially as I may be a bit out of my depth if the responses get technical. If someone else wants to take up the cudgels in the meantime t...

Re: FH and Crossover - Lookup Missing Census Facts plugin

Mike, This is the report I propose to post on Codeweavers under the title: "Family Historian - Lua Plugin Issues". Re: FH and Crossover - Lookup Missing Census Facts plugin

I had already created the html file but wasn't sure where to put it. After some experimentation I copied it to the virtual C drive that Crossover creates and then used the Crossover>Programs>Run Command... This brings up a Finder window to allow me to Browse to the file and then Open it in the Run C...

Re: FH and Crossover - Lookup Missing Census Facts plugin

Doesn't seem to be anyway to "undo" the Use Native Web Browser by Default button. It doesn't have a toggle - at least there is no indication to show that the selection is toggled. Can you clarify where in the Crossover file system I should put this html file, please and how? Do you mean in my Family...

FH Plugins and Crossover - ToolTip Issues

I am posting this topic to identify an issue with FH plugins running under Crossover on OSX Mavericks. Hovering over a Button can have one of at least two undesirable effects: 1. The ToolTip displays as a black rectangle: Screen Shot 2014-06-03 at 20.06.58.png 2. Or the Tooltip rapidly flashes on an...

Re: FH and Crossover - Lookup Missing Census Facts plugin

There is no option to select a specific browser, only to use the Native Web Browser. Clicking that button doesn't bring up any other options but appears to have the effect of telling Applications and Programs to use Safari, as that is my default OSX Mavericks browser. The message doesn't seem to be ...

Re: FH and Crossover - Set Window Fonts in Plugins

I'm sure I have seen the Font window with a selector to show only TT fonts. Maybe it is no longer available to developers. The problem with some of the fonts wasn't the size of the font but the nature of the font - i.e. not TT or System. The dialogue does identify TT fonts but not sure what the the ...

Re: FH running under Crossover - Plugin Help & Advice

Mike, I do remember now reading a long time ago about the difference between Internet Explorer and the Internet Explorer Engine - rather too subtle a difference for me to appreciate, I'm afraid. Presumably this is the reason that IE must be included in the Crossover Bottle, even though there is no i...

FH and Crossover - Set Window Fonts in Plugins

The option to select the font and font sizes works OK with standard fonts such as Arial but I seem to have accumulated some fonts beginning with "@" and these can produce odd behaviour, such as the plugin window expanding to the width of the screen and text disappearing from the buttons. Can the lis...

FH running under Crossover - Plugin Help & Advice

Mike,

Just running through your experiments. Help & Advice seems to be OK but opens in a new window but not, apparently, a browser window. Otherwise behaves as expected.

I can't reproduce that situation - File>Print Preview is available and displays the report as expected. I am using Crossover v13.1.13 under Mavericks with FH 5.0.9. It might be the specific programs in plantheaven 's bottle but I am no expert in setting these things up - only that everything in my s...

Thanks for the update, Jacqui. Glad you managed to sort things out. And thanks to Mike for updating the KB.
