Re: FH 6.2 - FindMyPast Hints
Two more issues - perhaps I'm doing something wrong: 1) There is no way I can get drag and drop to work to add the record to my tree and copy and paste is greyed out. What are you actually highlighting to copy anyway? 2) When using an external browser, if the person to whom the matches are supposed ...

Re: FH 6.2 - FindMyPast Hints
Very annoying when you know they aren't hints that are relevant to your family and there seems to be no way to get rid of them.ColeValleyGirl wrote:...
2. Agree -- looks like you need to have a subscription to accept/reject FMP hints. (Annoying if you are getting hints for a region you don't have a subscription for).

FH 6.2 - FindMyPast Hints
Thank you to both Calico Pie and FindMyPast for this upgrade and the ability to get hints from FindMyPast. One little issue, however, which is that I only have a UK sub for FindMyPast but it is throwing up USA hints. I know these (in a particular case) are not relating to my ancestor but I cannot ma...

Re: FT Analyzer
Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I have just downloaded FT Analyser, partly with the intent of analysing the ancestors entered on Lost Cousins. About 4 or 5 years ago I entered about 30 ancestors on Lost Ancestors but as there was, then, no tie-up with FH this fact is not recorded in my FH Gedco...

Re: Recovering Internet Matches
Yes, renaming the MyHeritageCache.dat resets the search and all the searches are re-started. Of course it would be better if you could reset the search for one person at a time but as the MyHeritageCache.dat is not in plain text this does not seem to be possible. Perhaps it will be something for a f...

Recovering Internet Matches
I have found this to be a very useful tool but having reviewed the matches and then either accepted or rejected them they disappear. Is it possible to recover them so that they can be reviewed again? I tried "Refresh Internet Matches" but that seems to search for new matches.

Re: Map Life Facts 3.4 question
Is "[unnamed person]" a generic title allocated by FH6 or is it something you have entered, BillH? If it is specific to your family then others may have used different identifiers. Would the suggested changes cope with all possible variants.

Re: robert Hales Phillips family 1871 census
There are a number of possibilities: 1) The 1871 Census covering where the family were living is missing. FMP lists the missing parts of the Census and I think the information should also be on the National Archives web site. 2) The entry with your family has been mis-transcribed - try searching for...

Thanks for that Mike. I don't remember having to add the second backslash but it is some time since I ran the plugin. Anyway, all seems to OK now.

Re: Plugin: Check for Unlinked Media
Sorry to jump into this thread, but Gerry you could try the following edit to the Plugin. Change the function buildfilelist() that starts on line 79. Change line 86 if attr.mode == 'file' then as follows: if attr.mode == 'file' and not filename:match('picasaoriginals\') then This should ...

Re: Map Window
Part of the problem is that more places than you would expect have shifted counties over the past 150 or so years. A whole chunk of Suffolk moved to Norfolk in the 19th Cent and the southern part of Lancashire moved to Cheshire. And of course Westmoreland and Cumberland no longer exist and the new C...

Re: FH V6 My Heritage Hints
There are at least two different types of hints: those based on the data sets held by My Heritage and those based on subscribers' family trees. I have already been in contact with one tree owner and have several messages out to others. These are mainly to resolve issues such as unexpected spouses, v...

Re: Internet Matching
I have been playing around with the Internet Matching and I must say it is producing many more hints than I had expected, although the quality of the hints is highly variable from completely useless to very interesting. However, that isn't a fault with FH 6, rather with the quality of input by subsc...

Re: Internet Matching
Is there a way of viewing all the people that have matches, preferably in the Record Window, so that I can work though all of them? I suspect that there are matches down branches that I don't visit very often and may miss if I don't know where they are.

Re: FH6 on Parallels/Crossover
... I am not sure why Gerry is asking " if the recent upgrade of Crossover will now allow Win 8/8.1 ". Since Crossover is an emulator, it does NOT need a copy of Windows. It allows FH and AS to be run in the same Bottle . Is that not enough? Why does the flavour of Bottle matter? The flavour does m...

Re: Family Historian 6 - 9th December
I bit the bullet and upgraded to Win 8.1 which I run under Parallels. In the end I did not like the Crossover interface and the fact that at the time I could only run Win XP. I don't know if the recent upgrade of Crossover will now allow Win 8/8.1. With Parallels 10 and Win 8.1 AND a memory upgrade ...

Re: MacBridge for RootsMagic
Thanks for the direct link, Mike. The advantage of the Macbridge software seems to be that there is no need to acquire (buy in the case of Crossover/download in the case of Wine) additional software and does away with the present complicated setup process for Wine/Crossover, which does required more...

MacBridge for RootsMagic
(Hope this is the correct part of the forum for this post!) This is a l...

Re: AS 4.1 and .Net Framework 3.5
Hmmm! Bet you're really looking forward to all the Windows 8.1 Updates and Windows 9. Not to mention OS X Yosemite and Parallels 10. ... Presumably you only have a Windows 8 Activation Key meaning you can't go straight for a Windows 8.1 download and clean install. However there are well publicised ...
